Early Morning Library Time
The library opens at 7:20 each morning. Students come to the library on Monday-Thursday to read and check out books. Friday mornings are for reading, checking out books, and participating in creativity centers. We have had a total of 510 visits to Early Morning Library Time this month.
Forming Main Idea Statements
Third graders worked hard this week reading informational articles and forming a main idea statement based on a careful reading of the article.
Collaboration with First Grade Teachers
It was a blessing to work with Mrs. Cerisano and Mrs. Reed as their students wrote informational books based on PebbleGo articles. Students read these articles, discussed the articles and photographs with their partners, and worked hard to write the information they learned in their own words. Students, then, created Tables of Contents which helped organize the chapters in their nonfiction books they collaboratively created.
Finding the Theme of a Poem
Fourth Graders did a great job of reading Robert Frost's poem "The Road Not Taken", looking for motifs in this poem, and determining the theme of the poem. Before they read "The Road Not Taken", students completed a gallery walk and wrote their thoughts about different pieces of art inspired by this poem.
