Progress Reports

Progress Reports are coming home this week. These reports are intended to give you an idea of how your child is pogressing in their learning skills and growth as a learner. Focussing on learning skills is important, because we know that good learning habits and effort will lead to success! This is a good time to help your child think:

Where am I now? (What can I do? What am I doing well?)

What are my next steps?

We value home school communication. Please return the bottom portion of page 2 to provide comments and if you wish, request to discuss your child's progress

Kindness Week Activities

We will join other schools from across Limestone DSB this week to put a spotlight on kindness. This fits well with our school goal to work together to create a caring, welcoming enviroment for everyone! Here are some of the activities:

  • "Catch You Being Kind" - Student photograhers will be out at recesses this week, recording and catching students being kind! There wiill be a kindness quote and reminder in the announcements each day. Pictures/videos will be shared at the assembly on Friday.
  • Door Decorating - Each class will decorate their door to share an important message about kindness
  • Choose Your Kindness Challenge Day - Each class is asked to choose and complete a challenge.
  • Kindness Bake Sale - Sponsored by Grade 6/7s to contribute to the Glenburnie Community and also a local Charity (TBD). Items will range in price between 50 cents and a $1. Donations will be presented at the assembly on Friday.
  • Friday - Pink Day - join other schools across LDSB to say "yes" to kindness and wear pink to symbolize that we do not tolerate bullying.
  • Recognition Assembly - share our focus on kindness

Recognizing and Responding to Negative Behaviours

Although our focus will be on promoting positive behaviours this week (and always), this is a good time of year to review some negative behaviours that we want to discourage and respond to. The following article may help you frame conversations with your child. And please, if your child is experiencing mean behaviour or bullying from others, it is important that it is reported so we can follow up. We encourage you to review WITS with your child - strategies they can use to respond.
