Wisconsin's Home For Teachers

Elementary Resources

Into the Book is a multimedia, reading comprehension resource for elementary students and teachers. This resource is based on current research, and focuses on eight strategies: using prior knowledge, making connections, questioning, visualizing, inferring, summarizing, evaluating and synthesizing. Into the Book is designed to improve students' reading comprehension as well as their ability to think and learn across the curriculum.

Along with resources for student learning, Into the Book also provides Professional Learning resources for aligning to Common Core State Standards, enhancing your Professional Development Plan and supporting Educator Effectiveness.

Middle and High School Resources

Middle and high school educators can see resources available for your classroom by browsing by subject and grade. Wisconsin Media Lab also provides a searchable database of more than 57,000 video clips from PBS Learning Media. You can share the week's current events with your students through Flocabulary's very engaging The Week in Rap. Students and teachers, too can make use of royalty-free sound, music and audio files for multimedia presentations from Soundzabound.

Professional learning resources are also available for middle and high school educators:

  • PBS TeacherLine provides a variety of online professional development to help you facilitate learning in your classroom.
  • Wisconsin RtI Stories is a professional learning tool to inform educators as you develop, implement and evaluate your RtI system.
