New themes for this month will include: Traditional Tales, Fairy Tales, Ballads, Folktales, and Fables. Students will be able to identify characters, settings, problems, and solutions in stories. they will discuss the choices that the characters make and think about the choices they would make in the same situation. We will continue to work on Phonological Awareness by deleting parts of compound words as well as practicing words that begin with the same sound. We will continue to review letter names and their sounds and use this knowledge to write and read simple high-frequency words.

Students will practice counting to 20 and higher. They will create story problems with up to 5 items. Students will review shapes and explain how they move them by sliding, flipping and turning them. Students will review patterns and they will be asked to extend and create new patterns.
Sciences
Students will learn about different kinds of animals that live in the forest. They will discuss what they eat, how they live, and how they hide and protect themselves from their enemies. Students will also talk about the different kinds of materials and tools that are needed to construct buildings.
Social Studies
Students will learn about the traditions of the Chinese New Year. They will participate in discussions about how we show friendship and kindness to others.
Points of Interest
Our Pre-K students are good helpers. They are in charge of picking up their center papers and materials. Take this opportunity to allow your child to shine at home. They can help dust, gather papers, fold clothes, and set up and clean the table. Praise them for the work they do and let them know how important their help is.
