SUPERINTENDENT & HEALTH OFFICER ON SCHOOL OPENING STATUS
The following is a joint statement from Dr. Jeffrey Lawson, Superintendent of Schools, and Ms. Lauren Levy, Cecil County Health Officer.
“In light of Governor Hogan’s press conference yesterday as well as the rise in statewide COVID-19 statistics, we would like to take this opportunity to jointly reassure the community that we are closely monitoring Cecil County’s data to inform our decisions of school status. With the constant analysis of Cecil County’s statistics, we are in agreement that the 50% return of students that began this week is the appropriate path forward. The Cecil County Health Department continues to be the school system’s daily advisor on health-related decisions and establishing safe, health-conscious plans for return. We will continue to partner as we navigate this and our decisions will continue to be made based on Cecil County’s data with the highest consideration given to the health of our students, families, and staff.”
