Taking Care of Ourselves and Each Other
Writing Workshop: Oral Storytelling
Most importantly, through the vehicle of storytelling, children are getting to know one another more deeply. Following several days of oral storytelling, we overheard small groups of children discussing similarities and differences in family structure, dreams, and the early days of learning to ride a two wheeler. Each conversation was influenced by a story told by a member of the Maple classroom. Additionally, some children were seen reenacting stories they heard through play.
Reading Workshop
In short, independent reading is a quiet, calm, and productive time of our day. It is a time when we turn thoughtfully through familiar and unfamiliar books, expand our interests and search for more information about the world and things we love . We work collectively to preserve and further refine this time and space.
