Mrs. Greene's 3rd Grade
November 15, 2019
Thankful...
Our days are fast-paced in Room 9, but we are trying to take time each day to find things to be grateful for! We have a 3rd Grade bulletin board filled with leaves that the students have written on with their gratitude thoughts. It is wonderful to read the sincere thoughts of gratitude from all of the 3rd Graders!
The Scholastic Book Fair is next week. I allow students that have money to shop at some point during the day. I suggest sending money in an envelope with your child's name on it. It seems like there is always money lost/found each year.
We can't wait to celebrate Grandparent's (Special Person's) Day on Tuesday, November 26. The third grade time for grandparents to visit is from 11:00-11:45. Be sure to register your child's guest to ensure they can quickly enter and smoothly transition to Room 9!
Remember, the Room 9 Padlet is always available for you to (anonymously) ask questions. Also, I am always happy to meet with you to discuss your child's progress.
As we look toward the end of second semester, your child should be improving the following skills:
- Being more responsible with his/her homework
- Longer reading stamina - 15-20 minutes at a time
- Less reminders about school/home responsibilities

That's all I have for now...
Enjoy your weekend! Go COLTS!!

Room 9 Celebrations
A few student highlights from our week:
- Lucy wrote me a note and put it in the "Notes to Mrs. Greene" bin. She was concerned because she felt as though her teammates were in conflict and she wanted to discuss the situation to come up with a resolution. I just love how she desires peace and harmony in the world!
- Chris and I had a great time singing FREEDOM, by George Michael, during handwriting one day. We were so hopeful that the other students in Room 9 would appreciate the song as much as we do...not sure that happened!
- Katelyn has completed all levels of typing.com! She is typing 40 wpm! It is a pleasure to watch her little fingers dance across the keyboard with ease!
- Taylor wrote me a note asking if she could sing a song in front of the class. Of course I told her YES! The next day she brought her special microphone and her ipod with the music on it. She performed with such confidence! It was amazing!
Her shirt says it all!
