Colonists fire back!!!
The
George's Proclamation
King George passed a proclamation claiming that the colonists can't settle in the Appalachian Mountains.
Boston Tea Party
As you know, King George III was taxing us on our imported goods, including Sugar, Stamps, and Tea to repay our war debt. Two thirds of the population understood and remained silent and loyal except for the Patriots. On the dark and unexpected Thursday night, the Patriots rebelled and dressed up as unknown and unidentifiable Indians. They got on-board of England's ships called the Beaver, Dartmouth, and Eleanor. The Patriots smashed and threw hundreds of boxes of tea into the harbor!
Boston Massacre
On October 5th, five men were killed. The Patriots were standing up for their rights and challenged the Redcoats. They were outnumbered by 4-to-1 and the Redcoats had a larger quantity of equipment than the colonists. Even without the preparation, the Englishmen were intimidated by the Colonist's determination and drive for justice. Both sides were given orders to not shoot in the beginning of the battle but someone broke those rules. The answer still remains unanswered as to who began the Massacre.
Battle of Saratoga
The British surrendered their weapons yesterday. We finally are at the turning point of the war! Our secret advantage against the English helped. Our strong alliance got the French to bring us weapons and other supplies. We will win this war soon!
Lexington and Concord
"The British are coming!" Shouted the heroic Paul Revere to warn us last night, April 19th, 1775. If it wasn't for an English soldier to release information about the generals plan, a few of our men would have been captured in the late hours of the night. 49 colonists were killed and 39 were injured, as for the English, 73 were killed and 174 were injured.
Battle of Yorktown
It began on September 28th and ended on October 19th, 1781. It was the last battle of the American Revolutionary War. The British Army finally surrendered and considered a Peace Treaty. General Cornwallis signed the Articles of Capitulation, also known as the British surrender.
Thomas Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13th, 1743 and died on July 4th, 1826. He wrote the Declaration of Independence. He later then became the 3rd president of the United States believing in Republican and human rights. He is considered a Founding Father Of the United States of America.
John Locke
He was born August 29th, 1632 and died on October 28th, 1704. He was known for being an important Enlightenment Thinker. He wrote a famous pamphlet called Common Sense and it inspired the views on the Declaration of Independence. Without his brilliant mind, our constitution and our America wouldn't be what it is today.
