Director's Details - Week 5

Classical Conversations of Burien

“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.” I Pet. 3:15 (KJV)

It was another fantastic week of learning more about God's Creation! Thank you for continuing to invest in our community of learners and Christ-followers. Your willingness to extend grace, support one another and learn new things is a blessing to this community.

Foundations to Challenge Connection - Week 5

History helps students understand God’s providential plan and make sense of the political systems, religious beliefs, and societal institutions that we see around us. Many of the foundational ideas of our culture come from the Romans. In Foundations today, you will continue your overview of the Roman Empire. In Challenge II, students translate passages from Caesar’s Gallic Wars. They begin the year with a comparison of three leaders: Julius Caesar, Napoleon Bonaparte, and Christ. Students meet up with Caesar again in Challenge III Shakespeare.

As students grow up in the Challenge program, they get the unique perspective of inte grating their Latin, literature, and history. You can read a student’s perspective on high school Latin in Anna Harvey’s article “Why Study Latin: A Student’s View.”

Picture Day

Mark your calendars for Thursday, October 22. Rick Ehrenberg Photography will be on campus to take class pictures of each class as well as the tots. He is also willing to take individual pictures, if you are nostalgic for those awkward school photos. Below is a sample of the packages available. Grace will have hard copies available in the coming weeks.

Note: there is an option to purchase a 5x7 class photo as well as the 8x10 offered last year.
