Nature Hike # 2 - THIS week!
This week, Thursday, October 1, will be our second of two nature hikes. We will meet as usual at the church from 9-11 am. At 11 am, please gather you children and plan to meet at Seahurst Park: 2001–2099 SW Seahurst Park Rd Seattle, WA 98166 United States
We will regroup in our classes (with the same parent coverage) and observe plant life. After a hiking/observing time, the children will have a few minutes to draw their observations in their nature notebooks.
*Dress accordingly! Or bring a change of shoes. ;-)
We will stay at the park to enjoy lunch and fellowship time. Essentials families, please plan to leave the park by 12:45 to head back to the church for Essentials class from 1-3 pm. The rest of you are welcome to stay and fellowship.
Use Your Gifts!
There are still several opportunities to serve within the community. Check our our Community Jobs Sign Up and see where you might use your gifts & talents to bless our community.
Bless our Littles & Their Mamas
Moms of big kids, if you are needing a baby fix, you are welcome to sign up for a day of coverage. I know the nursery mamas will be so thankful for you help! Also, it is a blessing to those tutors who have littles and cannot offer coverage.
On the days you cover nursery, please check to be sure that your child's classroom is also covered. If it appears it will be short, contact the other classroom moms and see if someone can move around to help with coverage. This is most critical in Mr. Streff's, Mrs. Heflin's and Mrs. Barrett's classrooms.

Foundations to Challenge Connection - Week 5
History helps students understand God’s providential plan and make sense of the political systems, religious beliefs, and societal institutions that we see around us. Many of the foundational ideas of our culture come from the Romans. In Foundations today, you will continue your overview of the Roman Empire. In Challenge II, students translate passages from Caesar’s Gallic Wars. They begin the year with a comparison of three leaders: Julius Caesar, Napoleon Bonaparte, and Christ. Students meet up with Caesar again in Challenge III Shakespeare.
As students grow up in the Challenge program, they get the unique perspective of inte grating their Latin, literature, and history. You can read a student’s perspective on high school Latin in Anna Harvey’s article “Why Study Latin: A Student’s View.”

PNB Nutcracker Ballet
Hi CC families
I'm trying to get a feel for any interest there may be in seeing this years Nutcracker at The Pacific Northwest Ballet. They offer a matinee performance for school groups at a reduced price. We need at least 15 people to get the matinee pricing. The dates I was looking at are Friday Dec 4 or Fri Dec 11 all starting at noon. The special matinee prices are $17 for kids and $27 for adults.
Here is the link to the ballet:
https://www.pnb.org/season/15-16/nutcracker/
Please let me know if you are interested, what dates you are available, and how many tickets you would need. Please let me know by this Sunday as tickets usually sell out fast for the matinees.
Thanks!
