happy summer

We hope you are enjoying the lazy days of summer with your children and families. Those of us working at school are balancing some time for rest and relaxation and work. Many people wonder what has to be done at school over the summer. We are busy finalizing everything from the school year we just finished. We are finalizing financial accounts, grades, and transferring transcripts to new schools for those students who are leaving us. We are planning for the coming school year: creating the calendar, enrolling new students, placing students in classes, developing the master schedule, hiring new staff members, etc. We also spend a lot of time managing facility maintenance and improvements. Summer is a great time to take care of the facility that we have with annual maintenance as well as make necessary improvements for our students and staff. Finally, we have been blessed to have some students on campus this summer! We've had the joy of having more than 50 students on campus twice a week for Summer Tutoring. We miss the students every summer, so it's so great to have some kids on campus this year.

We are excited about the coming school year! We are planning a full calendar of activities and events for our students and their families. We have not finalized our policies regarding masks, etc quite yet; however, we are confident the coming year will be much more normal than the year we just finished.

We hope you are having a wonderful summer! Please remember that our school office is open daily (with the exception of July 5th when we are closed for the 4th of July holiday). Don't forget about school supplies and summer homework (you can find more information below and on our school website). We are counting down the days until our first day of school. If there is anything we can help you with in the school office, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Enjoy the rest of the summer. Stay safe and healthy

God Bless,
Mrs. Haas

welcome fr. tim

St. Joseph Catholic School is excited to welcome Father Tim LaBo as our Canonical Administrator. Father Tim is a great advocate and supporter of Catholic schools in our diocese. Welcome, Father Tim.

Summer homework

Ensure that your child starts the year strong and is prepared on the first day of school with his/her Summer Homework completed. Our most successful students find enriching learning opportunities throughout the summer. Parents are encouraged to find teachable moments in daily activities. Teachers in kindergarten through grade 8 have provided their incoming students with books and activities to complete during the summer to help avoid the summer slide. Summer homework was sent home during the final days of school. It can also be accessed by visiting our school website or at this link: Summer 2021 Homework – St. Joseph Catholic School (stjosephwhschool.org)

school supplies

School Supply Lists for the 2021-2022 school year are available on the school website.

Intended to be a convenient OPTION for parents, our PTO has worked with a company to assist parents with purchasing school supplies. School Supply Kits have been created for each grade level and can be purchased with one click. If you are interested in ordering your child's school supplies online and having them directly shipped to your home, please visit https://schooltoolbox.com/school-supplies/school/list-boxes/?schoolId=25424

uniform sales

All students in PreK 3 and Kindergarten through grade 8 must be in full SJCS uniform daily. The SJCS uniform may only be purchased from Sir Walter, our uniform company. The uniform must fit comfortably on students and should not be snug. It is important to remember that children grow over summer, so please assess your child's uniforms and make new purchases as necessary.

Uniform Sale Dates:

  • NEW FAMILIES ONLY: Wednesday, July 21st from 12pm-2pm.
  • Wednesday, July 21st from 2pm-5pm.
  • Tuesday, August 3rd from 12pm-5pm.
  • Saturday, August 7th from 9am-12pm.

facts accounts

FACTs accounts must be established before parents will be able to pick up their child(ren)'s new school year packet. Parents must set up the accounts with bank account information and schedule payments. Please remember that the school applies the fees and scholarship amounts; the parent must work with FACTs to make any other changes to their FACTs account.

Mrs. Brown has started applying the fees and scholarships to student accounts. Families that are receiving scholarships are reminded to submit Award Letters to Mrs. Brown so that your account can reflect that scholarship.

Again, students will not be assigned to a class for the coming school year unless a FACTs account has been established by the parent. Please take care of this at your earliest convenience. Call the office if you have questions.

As you begin to prepare your child back to/to St. Joseph Catholic School, please be mindful of our requirements for student's shoes. The shoe rule will remain the same this coming school year and states:

Predominantly white, black, grey, brown or navy shoes are to be worn with laces matching the predominant color of the shoes. The shoes may have one secondary color. *Please note that predominant red shoes are not permitted.

If you have questions about shoes meeting the requirements, you are urged to speak with MRS. HAAS, MR. REILLY, or MRS. MAGNOLE only.

As you begin to make plans for back to school haircuts, etc, we remind parents of the guidelines regarding hairstyles for boys and girls at St. Joseph Catholic School.

No radical hairstyles or hair colors are permitted. No highlights or alterations to natural hair or hair color are allowed. No elaborate hair decorations are allowed. (This includes designs shaved into haircuts, mohawks, spiked hair, etc.)

Thank you for your help in adhering to this policy.

orton gillingham training

Summer is a great time for teachers to learn more strategies and pedagogies to bring back to their classroom to better meet the needs of their students. Once again, we have teachers participating in Orton Gillingham Training this summer.

This hands-on training provided teachers with skills and strategies to create a fun, multisensory approach to reading instruction of phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension as well as spelling. Nine of our teachers participated in this virtual training to improve their teaching methodologies. Seven of our teachers participated in this same training last summer. We are very grateful to our teachers who spend time during their summer learning more strategies to bring back to their classrooms.

Positions Available

St. Joseph Catholic School is currently seeking certified teachers for part-time employment in the afternoons.

We are also seeking an individual to assist part-time in the guidance department. This individual must have a teaching certificate, guidance counselor credentials, or the like.

St. Joseph Prayer

O Blessed Joseph, faithful guardian of my Redeemer, Jesus Christ, protector of Mary, the virgin Mother of God, I choose you this day to be my special patron and advocate and I firmly resolve to honor you all the days of my life. Therefore, I humbly ask you to receive me as your client, to instruct me in every doubt, to comfort me in every affliction, to obtain for me and for all the knowledge and love of the Heart of Jesus, and finally to defend and protect me at the hour of my death. Amen.
