Panther Post
January 14th - January 20th
Hello Lopez Families,
It is crunch time for our yearly fundraiser! We need to fill our sponsorships so we can order the shirts with the sponsor logos on them. Please see my email from Friday with all the fliers and link, use the form at the bottom of this page, or use the online link from our Lopez website. Panther Challenge Form.
In case you have missed it, there have been some great basketball games this week. As an example, I was at the 7th grade boys basketball game on Wednesday night and witnessed some major nail biters. Our go-team won on a buzzer beater and then our b-team won on a shot in the last 10 seconds. Not to be out-done, our A-team went into double overtime. Unfortunately, that one didn't work out for us. But that is a part of life and it is good to see our boys respond when things don't work out the way they wanted. They were upset because they are very competitive, but kept their chins high, congratulated the other team and are now out there practicing to get even better. I love all of our competitions, whether it is sports, academic contests or fine arts. I am so glad our kids have the opportunities to do it all.
Have a wonderful week!
Sincerely,
Mr. Wernli

Leader In Me
For teens, life is not a playground, it can be like a jungle. Being the parent of a teenager is not a walk in the park, either. What can Lopez students do to Be Proactive?
Being proactive can be a key to unlocking success. Help your teen take control and responsibility for their life. What can your teen do this semester to be Proactive at school? Ideas: Sign up for Parent/Student Portal, check the schedule for morning coaching, have an agenda and write or type in weekly requirements.
Proactive people understand that they are responsible for their own happiness or unhappiness. They don't blame others for their own actions or feelings.
Upcoming 8th Grade Meetings
Dear 8th grade parents, parking during electives fair at Reagan will be limited to the student parking areas (pink and blue lots) which will require a bit of a walk. We are most sorry for the inconvenience. The Reagan Theatre Department is currently in their last stages of rehearsal for the musical production, Oklahoma. The production involves many fine arts students who typically park in our COOP/silver lot, which is closest to the main entrance, thus our limited parking situation. Thank you for your patience and understanding and we look forward to your visit.
Reagan Cheerleading Tryout Information
If you are interested in being a Reagan Cheerleader you will need to attend the mandatory tryout meeting on Jan 17th at 6:00pm in the Reagan Cafeteria. You must be in attendance to tryout. All those interested in Dance 1 – Pep at Reagan should attend the information meeting on March 20th at 6:00pm in the Reagan Cafeteria.
