Crestwood Medical Center 2019 Summer Teen Volunteer Program
The 2019 Summer Teen Volunteer Program at Crestwood is open to rising 9th graders through recent graduates (must have turned 14 by December 31, 2018). Visit www.crestwoodmedcenter.com/summer-teen-volunteer-program for more information and for the application link.
SWeETy Camp for 9th-12th Grade Girls
Calhoun Community College and the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce will host the 14th Annual Summer Welding and Electrical Technology (SWeETy) Camp this summer for girls entering 9th through 12th grade. The camp will be held June 10 - 13 and will include four days of welding, electrical technology, and additive manufacturing projects designed to introduce young women in our area to non-traditional careers.
Camp registration is limited to 21 participants, and there is $10 non-refundable registration fee.

Senior Follies: The Class of 2019 is excited to present Senior Follies on Monday, March 25, at 7 p.m. in the Wright Gym. Everyone is invited to help celebrate the senior class and enjoy their many talents! Admission is $7. All proceeds go to the 2019 Senior Class Fund to assist with graduation and senior activities.
Prom Slideshow: Seniors, if you are attending Prom, email a senior picture and baby picture to jhenderson@mcssk12.org for the senior slideshow. List the senior's name in the email for proper spelling purposes. No selfies accepted. The DEADLINE is March 29th.
HG's Got Talent! Can you sing? Dance? Do magic tricks? Play an instrument? Perform stand up? The Drama Club will host its first HG's Got Talent! show on April 11th at 7:00 with host Ethan Bonner in the cafeteria. Dress rehearsal will be April 10th after school. Come show HG what you can do! Cost to perform is $5. Tickets to support your friends will be $5 at the door. Each ticket purchased will receive a vote for Audience's Choice: Best in Show! Please sign up with Mrs. Brady in room N120 if you are interested in performing.
The 10 Best Worst Things About High School: Ah, high school! The best or worst four years of your life! On April 18th the HG Theatre I classes will perform their showcase The 10 Best Worst Things About High School, a short comedy by M.G. Davidson. The show will be in the cafeteria. Come support our first-year, spring theatre students in this hilarious tale. Tickets will be $10 at the door.
Bedtime Stories (As Told By Our Dad) (Who Messed Them Up): The advanced spring theatre students will present Bedtime Stories (As Told By Our Dad) (Who Messed Them Up), a comedy by Ed Monk, on April 26 and 27 and May 3 and 4 in the cafeteria. All shows will be at 7:00. Tickets are $10 at the door. You may think you know fairy tales, but not the way Dad tells them!

Blood Drive: Hazel Green High School HOSA will host a school blood drive with the American Red Cross on April 17, 2019, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Hazel Green High School Auxiliary Gym. For more information or to make an appointment to donate, call 256-851-3220 or sign up online at https://www.redcrossblood.org/. Currently we are only making this available to our teachers, students, and their parents.
*Students can donate as young as 16. Those students will require a parent's signed permission slip in blue or black ink. Students that are 17 or older just need to sign up in the cafeteria during lunch this week. We are looking for Power Red donors as well. Those that have blood types O, A negative, or B negative and have not donated in the past 3 months are encouraged to sign up for these slots.
Baseball T-Shirts: Here is an opportunity for Trojan fans to proudly support our reigning state baseball champs! The baseball team is selling T-shirts for $20. The shirts are Nike cotton (short sleeve), and sizes range from youth large to adult XXL. Color options are red, gray, and black. Students can see Coach Perez in C209 to purchase. Thank you for your support!
Sock Sale to Benefit National Pediatric Cancer Foundation: HOSA is selling socks for $5. One dollar from each sale will be donated to the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation. See Mrs. Thomson or a HOSA member to purchase.
Soccer Fundraiser: The soccer team is selling clear bags that are size and style approved for Huntsville City Schools' sporting events. The clear tote bags are 12"x6"x12" and have the HG logo on them. They are $15 each and can be purchased through MySchoolFees. Students can also purchase them by seeing Coach Lilavois, Coach Balash, or Coach Williams.

Senior Breakfast & Senior Awards Day: Seniors, mark your calendars! Senior Breakfast and Senior Awards Day are scheduled for May 15th. The breakfast will be at 8 a.m. followed by awards at 9 a.m.
Senior Parents: It is time to start planning this year's breakfast to celebrate our seniors. Senior Breakfast and Awards Day will begin at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15. Our Senior Breakfast celebration is a time honored event at Hazel Green to honor our graduates. Please contact ebrady@mcssk12.org if you are interested in becoming our parent contact for this event or if you would like to donate your time or food for this occasion.
Attire for Senior Awards Day & Graduation in May: School appropriate dress for Graduation AND Senior Awards Day will be followed: ALL seniors will wear the graduation uniform-caps, gowns, cords, and stoles to BOTH Graduation on May 22 and Senior Awards Day on May 15. Girls will wear a school-appropriate, “dressy dress” or pants suit under their gowns. Dark or neutral colored shoes are recommended. Boys will wear dark slacks, a white, button-down, collared shirt, and a dark-colored tie, with dark or neutral colored shoes. Bow ties are allowed. NO flip flops, rubber “shower shoes,” tennis shoes, Van’s, Chaco’s or casual or wedding TOM’S are allowed. Boots are allowed as long as they are clean. Students not wearing appropriate clothing or footwear will be removed from the line-up until proper items are obtained. “When in doubt, DON’T.” Graduation caps should be free of any writing or designs, and they should be worn properly. DO NOT WRITE ON THE TOP OF THE GRADUATION HAT. The point of the hat should be midway of the forehead. Do not place hat on the back of the head. Tassels should hang on the right side. Only school-approved caps, gowns, cords, or stoles will be allowed. If you have a question or doubt about your attire, you need to ask Dr. E.Q. Headen, Mrs. Scroggins, or Mrs. Brady BEFORE awards morning or graduation. If you have a financial issue and need assistance with attaining the proper attire, you may ask ANY HGHS employee, and we will assist you with finding what you need.

Revision to Pre-Approved Absence Policy- Students requesting pre-approved, excused absences will need to turn the form in to Mrs. Sharp at least 20 days before the planned absence. Forms can be found on the school website.
Procedure for Riding the Bus with a Friend - Any student who plans to ride home on a bus with a friend or to another address should follow the procedures below. No student will be allowed to ride to a different address without verification of parent/guardian approval by a school official.
1. A parent/guardian note should be turned in before first block to the receptionist desk at the back of school. The note should contain the address and information for the bus driver and should include the date and a correct phone number for verification purposes.
2. Pick up the verified note from the receptionist during lunch.
3. Give the note to the bus driver when entering the bus at the end of the school day.
Parenting Assistance Line: PAL is a service where anyone can call a toll free number 1-866-962-3030 and receive useful, practical information and assistance with developmental and parenting questions and concerns. Available 8:00am – 8:00pm (central time) Monday – Friday.
Recycle: Going green at “the Green”. The Hazel Green High School Special Education Department needs your old cell phones and ink cartridges. Items to be recycled can be given to a Special Education teacher or left for collection at the office. Your support of our recycling fundraiser is greatly appreciated.
Reward Cards: Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your reward cards when you visit Publix and Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you have them swipe your card, HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a reward card, just stop by the main office to pick one up.

Driver’s permit: Students /Parents, remember to pick up the Student Enrollment Form before you go to get your permit. The driver’s license department will not allow you to take the test unless you have this form and it cannot be faxed after you get there. These forms are good for 10 days only.
Loyalty Reward Tags: (Hazel Green Pharmacy Loyalty Key Tag Program) Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your loyalty key tag when you visit Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you purchase a Prescription/Gift/OTC have them swipe your tag. HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a loyalty key tag. Just stop by the main office to pick one up.
