Crazy Doc's rant and raves...
- At team meetings on Tuesday you will be working with your leadership team to create professional development for other teachers in the building at our next staff meeting.
- For the data digs please bring your computer and any other student data you would like them to be tracking. (DRA, Writing scores, etc.)
- I have included a lunch schedule below, as we wrap up the middle of the first quarter a reminder of timeliness is needed for some. Please remember that if you are late it demonstrates a lack of respect to those around you. Next week I will begin to provide more personal reminders.
- Rachal and Casey have provided a reminder about use of the refocus room below. Like they said, the honeymoon is over and students are starting to push our buttons, that does not mean we can sacrifice our relationship or status with student and turn them over to someone else to be "handled."
- Some of you may have heard the story from J Anderson about when he was principal at Campbell, a teacher sent a student to the office with a referral and said the student was pushing all of her buttons! J sent the student back and told the teacher to remove her buttons. Everyone has students that like to challenge them, be disrespectful, not work, refuse to follow directions. When we stop trying to work with that student they see that as quiting on them, they are trying to make you quit just so they can say you did. Do not let them! Be the one!
I had the opportunity to share with Mike Methvin the amazing work everyone is doing with interventions and the rich discussion that is taking place not only in team meetings, but also on your own common planning time.
Title 1 teachers have either finalized or will finalize their schedules today, sped has been done for a while. If you make a change to your schedule at this time it will cause a major disruption in schedules of others so please see me if you do so. Also, please note that if you take an extra recess (even though we discussed maximizing our instructional minutes) these students will need to go to their other classes.
Mindfulness time is scheduled for you in the morning, provided in the Blue Jay News on Mondays, and expected of you in the afternoon. It has made an impact on our school. Now that school is rolling, please make sure you are getting it done.
Quick hits:
- As you start to put your calendar together for the year, please avoid field trips on Wednesday (Wings), Thursday, and Friday.
- Please keep all tardy passes and send them home quarterly with the report card envelopes.

If you have students who are often absent or tardy, please take a few minutes to connect with that student and possibly even give a call home to check on them. It means so much to the students when they know their teachers care!
Thank you to Tammy for sharing this gem!
Teacher Spotlight
Thank you to all of the teachers willing to invest the time to be a pilot for Illustrative Math. The great work you are doing is being noticed and they are trusting you to be one of the groups to try this out for our district. Great job!
Do you have a idea for a person in the spotlight? Please let me know.
