Enjoy the charismatic animals of the Texas State Aquarium LIVE in your classroom! The Flint Hills Resources Aquavision Distance Learning Studio provides access to our animals and professionals through web-based videoconferencing technology. Curriculum is aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), especially those focused on STEM processes. Aquavision lets teachers add high-quality programming to their units without leaving school.

Connecting the Cold War and the Kennedy Assassination

Do you students ever wonder what life was like during the Cold War?
What does the Cold War have to do with the Kennedy Assassination? Maybe everything! The Sixth Floor Museum’s staff will explore with participants what Americans were afraid of during the Cold War - The Soviet Union, Cuba, and Castro - as well as how people responded to those fears across the USA, in the Soviet Union, and right here in DFW. Through primary sources, including oral histories, learn about how the story of Lee Harvey Oswald is connected to the story of the Cold War and to the Assassination of President Kennedy, and discuss the ultimate outcomes of the Cold War.

Ready for a mind-bending, shape-shifting approach to learning the connection between two dimensions and three dimensions? Join Museum staff for this hands-on geometry session. Using simple materials - scissors, tape, and strips of paper - your students will create three-dimensional loops and then transform them into unusual two-dimensional shapes. We'll even create and explore mobius loops. What a great hands-on experience to introduce or reinforce topology! Kit will be mailed, which includes supplies needed for student explorations along with other goodies for your classroom.
