Message from the Principal, Dr. Maguire
I hope you have had a relaxing and restful summer. Our teachers and staff are hard at work preparing for the return of all students on Wednesday, September 8, 2021. School will begin at 8:15. After a year of remote and hybrid learning, we are thrilled to welcome everyone back into the building for in-person learning. As you may have heard, the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has issued a mask requirement through at least October 1. All students and employees of Scituate High School must wear a mask indoors, with the exception of lunch time. We will be spreading lunch out between our cafeteria and small gym so that students have the space they need while eating. More information regarding COVID-19 protocols will be shared in the coming days from the district offices.
Superintendent Burkhead shared two districtwide pillars that will drive our work this year.
Pillar 1 is A Culture of Collaboration and Personalization, which means we will work to become a place where our school district will be a “Home Away From Home” for students, staff, families and community. This will be a place where everyone has a seat at the table, is treated with respect, treated fairly, and appreciated. I hope that this year, we can work together to make sure this “home away from home” feeling is realized by each and every member of our community. You deserve it and we have the power to make this happen!
Pillar 2 is A Culture of Excellence, where academic and personal excellence is an expectation for all. Since becoming principal, I’ve had conversations with students, staff, and community members around pushing the bar for high expectations, revisiting our understanding of rigor, and supporting all students to grow personally and academically. I am excited to do this work alongside so many talented educators. As we pull together and reimagine education post-pandemic, this pillar will help guide our discussion and action, and we will work with students and families as stakeholders in this process. Greatness does not happen by accident, but by a sustained, intentional drive toward a goal.
We are looking forward to working together to personalize a high-quality educational experience for all our students! Welcome back and we'll see you next week!

Orientation Presentation for Parents and Caregivers
Adjustment Counselor Jen Lopes, along with Annmarie Galvin from Scituate FACTS and Stephanie Vaccarino from SHORE met with parents and caregivers at yesterday's orientation. If you were unable to attend, but have a 9th grader or transfer student, please review the linked slideshow. For those with older students, this refresher might still be helpful as well!
Student and Family Handbook
First Day of School Schedule
Freshmen should report to the Performing Arts Center. All other students should report to Homebase.
A copy of the opening day schedule can be found here.
Arrival and Dismissal
Car Rider/Drop Off:
All drop offs and pick ups must occur in the loop outside the main office. Once on campus, please do not pick up or drop off your student until you have reached the loop. Please pull all the way forward so multiple students can exit or enter their vehicles at one time. For the safety of our students and to be good neighbors, no pick ups or drop offs may occur behind the town hall or on Cedarwood Road. Please be patient for the first two weeks as families get used to their drop off and pick up timing. It is recommended that no driver pick up a high school student prior to 2:55 so that buses may exit and student drivers have cleared the building.
Bus Riders:
Buses arriving before 8:00AM will instruct students to report to the cafeteria, library, or small gym.
