FINAL EXAM INFORMATION
Finals for ALL LEARNERS both IN PERSON and REMOTE, will occur synchronously.
For example, if a sophomore student has English II in their schedule during 2nd period, their English exam will be on May 24, 2021, from 9:24 a.m. - 11:20 a.m. according to the schedule above. If your student is unable to take the exam at the scheduled time, they will need to schedule a make-up exam with their teacher. No exams for students will be given prior to May 21, 2021. Any student, REMOTE or IN PERSON who misses the scheduled exam at the scheduled time, will be allowed a make-up exam without penalty. A zero will be entered into the gradebook but will be replaced with the exam grade once the exam has been made up. If the student does not arrange to make-up the exam, then the zero will remain in the gradebook.
Please review the schedule above and plan accordingly. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to your child's teacher or counselor.
2020-2021 THE WOODLANDS HIGH SCHOOL
SPRING FINAL EXAM EXEMPTION POLICY
All students, 9th through 12th, are eligible for final exam exemptions in the Spring Semester. Students must meet the criteria and the discipline requirement listed below.
Students must maintain an 85-100 class average for the semester (18-weeks)
Any student that has served ISS/SAC, DAEP, or OSS while enrolled in a course during the semester of the final exam is not eligible for a final exam exemption for that course.
- A student granted a final exam exemption must still attend that class during the final exam period in person or virtually. Students checking in remotely must log on during the synchronous exam time and submit the exemption assignment posted in the Canvas course for that class. If a student that does not attend in person does not complete the online exemption activity during the synchronous time, they will receive a zero (0) for the final exam and then must schedule a time to make up the exam.
To ensure that all students have the opportunity to complete their exams in a distraction-free environment, the attendance office will not be doing early checkouts for students on campus during exam periods. Parents and students should plan accordingly so that students remain in their exam period the entire duration of the exam period if coming in person (both mid-term and final exams).
AP TESTING:
AP TESTING: All AP exams administered at The Woodlands High School will be given during the 1st Administration and In Person. Only students with a qualifying COVID reason (Quarantined, Isolated, Covid Medical Exemption on file prior to April 23, 2021) will be considered for testing after May 17, 2021. Students should plan to arrive by 7:30am for a morning exam, 11:30am for a noon exam and 1:30pm for a 2pm exam. Please be sure to check emails from school messenger, as well as follow The Woodlands HS on Facebook and Instagram for updated information as we get closer to testing. COUNSELOR’S CORNER:
GPA Exemptions for the Classes of 2022 and 2023: The counselors are currently accepting GPA Exemption forms for all current sophomores and juniors for the next school year (2021-2022). The GPA exemption is in place to allow students to exempt up to two credits during their high school career. Some current juniors took advantage of the GPA exemption this year. If you would like to see further information about the GPA exempt courses, please refer to the Counselor Corner website for more information. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s counselor. The final day to turn in the GPA Exempt application form is Thursday, May 20, 2021. Reminder: Once this course is put in place and the student starts the course in the fall, the decision cannot be reversed.
Link for GPA Exempt Courses: http://www.conroeisd.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/GPA-Exempt-Courses-1.pdf
Note: If your student wants to wait and see their final grades this semester, there will be another opportunity to enroll for GPA exemptions in the fall semester. Fall GPA Exempt forms will be accepted through the third week of school. The fall deadline is September 3, 2021. Reminder: Once this course is put in place and the student starts the course in the fall semester, the decision cannot be reversed.
Course Selections for 2021-2022: Counselors have been working diligently for the past several weeks on individual conferences for all current 9th, 10th and 11th grade students. Both campuses should be completed with all of their conferences. In addition, the final deadline for parents and students to make changes to their course selections for next year is Friday April 30, 2021.
Course Verifications: Course verifications are now available for parents and student in both the Parent Access Account and Student Access Account. If you see any errors, email your student’s counselor.
Off Campus PE: The window for enrollment is open! If your student plans to participate in Off Campus PE, please enroll your student in the Off-Campus Physical Education on the CISD Athletics website. Please Note: Completing the campus course selection does NOT enroll a student in Off Campus PE.
https://apps.conroeisd.net/physedoffsite/
Dual Credit: If your student registered for a Dual Credit class for next year, payments are currently being loaded into their Lone Star Account and should be ready to accept payment beginning Monday 4/26. The deadline to pay for your student’s Dual Credit class is Friday May 14th.
Senior Class of 2021: We are getting close to the end of the year. Please make sure that your students are continuing to push themselves in all of their courses. Our counseling staff wants to make sure that our seniors stay on track to graduate in these final weeks. If you have any concerns about graduation and/or classes, please encourage your students to visit with their teachers and their counselors. We hope to see everyone at graduation on May 25, 2021!
Summer School Registration: Summer school registration is underway on our campus. If your student is interested in taking an accelerated course such as health, government, etc., please reach out to your student’s counselor. In addition, if your student needs summer school for credit recovery, counselors have also started that process. Counselors do understand, however, that many parents and students wait until after final exams to register for credit recovery. The final registration deadline for on campus registration is Wednesday, June 2nd.
Summer school will be at The Woodlands High School this summer. The link for the brochure is: https://www.conroeisd.net/department/tl/summer-school/
Quick Reminder: If your child is able to average the first semester failing grade with the second semester passing grade together for an overall grade of 70 or higher, summer school may not be needed. However, if a student fails second semester, the two semester averages cannot be averaged together for credit recovery. All students have to pass the second semester in order to get second semester credit.
CLINIC NOTES:
If a copy of your student’s vaccine record is needed to submit to their college or university, you or your student may request it by calling or emailing the clinic at 936-709-1076 or aransley@conroeisd.net. Please be aware that we will not be available after May 27th. If your student has not had an additional dose of the MCV4 (meningitis) vaccine after their 16th birthday, it is required by most colleges and universities for them to be fully vaccinated. You may want to also discuss whether the additional Meningitis B vaccine is appropriate for your child.
If your student has been vaccinated against COVID, please send us a copy or screenshot of that vaccination record via email (Senior Campus - aransley@conreoisd.net, 9th Grade Campus - jffletcher@conroeisd.net), or ask your student to stop by the clinic and we can make a copy, so we can add it to their record. Currently, individuals who have been fully vaccinated do not need to quarantine after an exposure, if they remain symptom-free, you are able to submit proof, and it has been longer than two weeks since their final dose.
From Nurse Jan at TWHS 9th grade campus - If your student calls you and wants to go home, please tell them to come see me first, and we will call you. Some things are OK to go home for, but if it is a Covid symptom I have to have some information before they leave.
ATHLETICS:
ATHLETIC PHYSICALS: The Woodlands High School will be hosting physical examinations for the 2021-2022 school year at The Woodlands High School 10-12 Campus on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. The physicals will be offered during the school day from 8:00 am and until 5:00 pm. Those students in grades 9-12 will be able to receive the physician portion during the athletic class periods, lunch or after school. McCullough students with last period athletics may ride a shuttle bus during athletics to the TWHS campus and there will also be shuttles available after school for those not in last period athletics. There will not be busses available to take these students home from TWHS. Students in 6th and 7th grade may come at any time between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. The cost will be $25.00 cash or check (checks may be made payable to The Woodlands High School).
All students participating in athletics, band, cheerleading, drill team, color guard, ROTC, and club sports are required to have a yearly physical examination on the UIL issued form. This is open to all CISD students as well as for anyone needing summer camp physicals. Physical Forms are available from TWH training rooms, coaches, activity sponsors, and in the campus front offices. Forms are also now available online on the CISD webpage at:

Reminder: Physicals for the 2021-22 school year cannot be dated before April 15, 2021.
BOYS BASKETBALL: Boys Basketball finished up their season last Thursday with their annual banquet but this year it was in the cafeteria and the Rebounders Club did an awesome job of decorating the space. Thank you to all the members that did all the work to make the event a success!
We will have open gym at the main campus 2 days in May on Monday the 17th and Thursday the 20th 4:30-6pm.

GIRLS GOLF: The Girls Golf Team won the Region 2 - 6A Championship at Bear Ridge GC in Waco TX.
The Team Score of 622 was 16 strokes clear of 2nd place Mansfield and 38 clear of 3rd place College Park.
- The Regional Champions were led by Avery Blake (Sr). Avery fired scores of 74-74 and her 148, 4 over par total was 2nd place individually for the championship.
- Senior Valeria Cruz added some timely play to the team's championship effort, her last 9 holes each day show there is no quit in these Highlanders.
- Freshman, Veronika Exposito played solid golf both rounds and added a pair of 79's to the team's regional championship.
- Sophomores Sofia Bastidas and Leena Stephens stepped up and showed a lot of grit and determination to hold to wrap up the teams championship effort.
Having a freshman and 2 sophmores contribute in such meaningful ways to a team's championship run means several more years of stellar play from the Highlander Girls Golf team at the Regional and State level.
- Holly Paterson (senior) also played in the Regional Championship as a medalist qualifier. Including Holly, all the highlanders place in the top 15 at the tournament and represented The Woodlands HS to the standards that have been in place for years!
Congratulations to the Regional champions! The State championship will be played on May 10-11 at Legacy Hills GC in Georgetown TX.
Go Highlanders!
