EVHS School Store Open During Lunch Until December 22

Looking for some fun holiday gift ideas? The school store will be open during lunch starting Thursday, December 15 thru December 22. We have a large assortment of Eastview spirit wear including sweatshirts, t-shirts, hats, mittens and jackets. You can also make a purchase through our online store and pick up your order at the west door security desk during school hours. Holiday Candy Grams

This December, The Flash will be selling Candy Grams to spread kindness this holiday season. Before school and during lunch, for 1 dollar you can send a message to any student or teacher in the school along with a candy that will be delivered the following advisory day. Perfect for best friends, favorite teachers, or even that special someone. For more information check out the Candy Gram stations in the commons before school or at lunch. All proceeds go to Toys for Tots.

Need A Tutor?

Peer tutoring is available on Wednesdays in the Learning Commons after school! Math peer tutors will be available from 2:30-3:30. You can get support for math homework- bring your questions or assignments to work on with a peer tutor and/or small group.

Red Cross Blood Drive at Eastview on Friday, January 20

The greater Eastview community of parents, family members, and neighbors are invited to donate blood as part of the NHS-sponsored drive on Friday, January 20 from 7:00AM to 1:00PM in Eastview’s South Gym. Donation registration is completely online @ http://www.redcrossblood.org/give/drive/driveSearch.jsp Type “eastview” (our sponsor code), in the search box and the follow the online prompts. See John Kelly in C232 or email at john.kelly@district196.org with questions. Please keep in mind that there is no school on January 20, 2023. All ages 16+ are welcome to donate.

Need a Previous EVHS Yearbook?

The EVHS Library has an archive of yearbooks which are kept to chronicle our history. In addition, we have also received extra copies over the years that have not been picked up or used for other purposes. It is time to downsize these extra copies. Do you have a grad who didn’t get a yearbook or know a neighbor who would appreciate the memories? You can find a complete list of extra copies available here listed by year. If you would like to request one of these copies, please email evhs.learningcommons@apps.district196.org and we will set the copy aside for you to pick up. Feel free to share the link with anyone who may be interested. All books can be picked up at Eastview High School during school hours.

Host Families Needed for 2023-24 School Year

New: 2023 EVCF Scholarship Application Is Open

EVCF will be awarding over 90 scholarships equaling close to $100,000 to seniors who live in the Eastview attendance area and will be graduating high school in the Spring of 2023.


You will find all the opportunities in the EVCF Scholarship Descriptions (click HERE). We have also included a filterable spreadsheet (click HERE) to help you determine which scholarships for which you are qualified to apply. Please read the directions carefully! Seniors with January 1st College Application Deadlines

The deadline for submitting requests for letters of recommendations or school reports to teachers and counselors so they can be completed before our Winter Break is Friday, December 16th. Students should plan accordingly as transcript requests are not processed over winter break.

Interested in Architecture, Construction or Engineering?

The ACE Mentor Program of America is a free, award-winning, afterschool program designed to attract district high school students into pursuing careers in the Architecture, Construction, and Engineering industries, including skilled trades. The group will meet every other Thursday from 2:45 – 4:45 pm in Room E163 at Apple Valley High School. The next meeting will be December 15th. Please complete this FORM if you would like to join.

Upcoming College Visits

UPCOMING COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY VISITS

Students should stop by the Counseling Office and get a pass to attend the college/university/military Rep Visit prior to the right visit. These university/college or military visits are small group meetings typically lasting 20/30 minutes. These admission reps are often times the same people that review college applications, so it's a great connection for students.

VARSITY SPORTS

Eastview Boys Varsity Hockey vs. the Lakeville South Cougars – December 17, 2022

Eastview came up a little short losing 3-2. The matchup with the Cougars lived up to its billing, as one of the toughest tests of the season for the Lightning. The tightly contested 1st period played to a scoreless tie with the Cougars outshooting the Lightning 9-5. Lakeville South opened the scoring early in the 2nd period when an aggressive forecheck resulted in a 1-0 lead at just 25 seconds of the period. Eastview struck back at 1:26 of the 2nd period on an impressive even strength goal when Billy Downs #23 tipped a shot from the point from Logan Opgrand #2 and Graham Ellingson #22 to tie the game 1-1. The Cougars took a 2-1 lead on the Power Play (PP) at 9:06, which ended the scoring for the period. Shots at the end of the 2nd period were 20-13 in favor of Lakeville South. The Cougars scored an even strength goal just 2:14 into the 3rd to make it 3-1, before the Lightning cut the lead to just one goal late in the period at 14:12 on the PP. Brayden Kaldenbach #7 scored on a pretty pass from Tanner Kronberg #17 and Zach Wooten #9. Despite a furious effort by the Lightning to tie the game, the Cougars escaped with a 3-2 win. The Lightning outshot the Cougars 10-5 in the 3rd, and shots ended up 25-23 for the game in favor of Lakeville South. The Lightning fall to an impressive 6-2 for the season and are back in action on Wednesday vs. Gentry Academy at the Apple Valley Sports Arena.



Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Wrestling team on winning 3 duals this past week. Kye Brouchet made his varsity debut going 2 and 0. 8 wrestlers have 10+ wins this season: Nolan Enderelein (12 wins), Spencer Lee (12 wins), Aiden Enderlein (10 wins), Pierce Lewis (11 wins), Ezra Formaneck (13 wins, Ethan Dupont (10 wins), Jack Bauer (11 wins), Alex Baccoli (13 wins). T

The Girls Varsity Wrestling team competed in the Athena Invite on Saturday. Eastview went 4 for 4 in placers. Riley Myers 1st place, Elsie Olson 2nd, Caitlyn Tighe 4th, Jannell Mendez 6th! Congratulations EVHS Girls Wrestlers!


JV SPORTS

Eastview High School Girls Junior Varsity Basketball beat Andover High School 38-20

The Lightning recorded back to back wins Friday and Saturday with a 38-20 victory over Andover on Saturday afternoon. Next up, the team faces Burnsville on Tuesday.


Eastview High School Girls Junior Varsity Basketball beat Shakopee High School 45-17

Hot shooting from the perimeter lifted the JV over Shakopee on Friday night. The team shared the ball and recored the most assists in a single game so far this season.


Eastview JV Boys Hockey vs. Lakeville South Cougars – December 17th, 2022

The Eastview JV Boys Hockey team got a big win this past Saturday. They beat Lakeville South 3 to 1. Lakeville South got the only goal in the first period. Mason Spray got the first goal with an assist from Kyle Benolken to make it 1 to 1 at the end of the 2nd period. Ethan Hansen scored the second goal for Eastview with assists from Jaymeson Zackery and Liam Johnson in the 3rd period. Will Poppler got the 3rd goal with assists from Tae Kalthoff and Owen Iikubo to solidify the win for Eastview.


Wear purple to show your support this Wednesday (12/21) when the Eastview Boys Hockey team partners with Minnesota Hockey Fights Cancer at the home game against Gentry. JV plays at 5 pm at the Apple Valley Sports Arena.



The JV wrestlers racked up three more wins over Trinity School at River Ridge, Buffalo, and Eden Prairie to up its record to 7-0 for the season. Going undefeated on the evening were- Brock Taylor, Ben Nguyen, Riley Myers, Logan Myers, Kian Ghobadi, Austin Finne, and Damien Mogere. Zakaria Osman earned his first career JV win!


At the thirteen team Maple Grove Invite, the Eastview JV team had a stand out day! Our six Champions were Aryan Karimnejad, Thomas Schmidt, Logan Ostler, Kian Ghobadi, Juan Gonzales and Colton Hanneman. Placing Second were Brock Taylor, Levi Ruyle, Camden Carey and Damien Mogere. Finishing in 3rd place was Eli Zillhardt. The 5th place Consolation Champions were Riley Myers and Logan Myers. Ben Nguyen wrestled to a 6th place finish. 7th place finishers were Elsie Olson and Austin Finne. Janelle Mendez placed 8th.

The Eastview Men’s Volleyball program has started off-season open gyms for guys who are planning on playing next spring, or guys who are thinking about it and want to learn more.
