Who's Got Next?
Tuscaloosa City Schools, in collaboration with the University of Alabama, will develop a culture that empowers Future Instructional Leaders to be highly effective executive leaders within Tuscaloosa City Schools. TCS and UA will provide high quality professional development and professional learning experiences to talented, aspiring instructional leaders by using effective training and on the job experiences and support. The focus areas of leadership includes improving the quality of instruction, improving student learning, believing in each and every student, and developing a culture of high expectations.
In December, the most recent cohort (above) completed their program and were honored with a graduation event that included the receipt of a commemorative pin (below). So, who's got next?
The academy includes:
- 18-month course of study
- Monthly coaching and activities that reflect the essential functions and focus areas of leadership
- Mentoring and support from NAESP candidates, assistant principals, and/or principal
- Face to face and virtual professional learning sessions with the University of Alabama and TCS
- Eight hours of shadowing with a high-performing assistant principal/principal
- Classroom Organization and Management Program (COMP) training and workshop leader certification
- Planning and organizing New Teacher Orientation
- Capstone Project
The interest meeting will be held at TCTA on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. in Academy Hall.
