CKE Monday Notes
"If It's to Be, It's Up to Me!"
Mid-Year Conference/MOY Data Updates & Common Planning
Remember that all certified staff members will need to report to the media center at 3:10 tomorrow (1/31) for our January faculty meeting. We will be hearing from each grade level and touching base on a few things. We will need to hear from all grade levels at the meeting and for everyone to sign-off on our mid-year conference. On Thursday (2/2) we will be having our next common planning meetings in Adrian's classroom. We will be looking at and analyzing data during our meetings.
Blue Team PLC Meeting Today
The blue team will meet for their January meeting after school today at 3:10 in the 18 (C18) on the 1st grade hall. All team members need to bring is something to write with and paper to take notes on. We will be analyzing student work samples.
Winter Ball - Family Dance
We just wanted to extend a big THANK YOU to everyone who helped out at the dance on Friday! It was awesome and we had such a GRRREAT turnout! We raised approximately $1,800 and this will go far in our Heroes campaign to help kids who have experienced abuse. Even though we had more than enough help with everyone staying, it gives us time to support our school and students outside of the school day. It is a great way to build up our Coker family and community!
January Club Day (2/3)
We will have our next club day this coming Friday at 1:15. For February we will have clubs on Friday March 3rd and on that day we will have BPI here to take club pictures. Jim will come around to classrooms and take pictures rather than pull kids out of rooms and send them elsewhere to take a picture.
Yard Sale this Saturday (2/4)!
The Coker Cub Club (CCC) will be hosting our next yard sale in the gym on Saturday from 7:30-1:30. This is a great way to get rid of some unwanted items that you may have and make a little money. We generally have a pretty decent turnout and will be advertising this week on local media and in the newspaper. Please encourage all of those folks that you know who frequent yard sales and tell them to stop by!

Diana Laufenberg: How to learn? From mistakes
Mindset - How to Learn from Mistakes
Check this brief video out from Diana Laufenberg from YouTube. Diana is huge on experiential learning and kids learning from their mistakes. One good question that she poses is, "Why does there always have to be one correct answer?". Are we simply teaching our students to successfully take a multiple choice or selected response test? Just answer and move on? The learning experience for our students should be so much more than that! We now know that the Milestones is for sure!!
Quote of the Week
"Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as you ever can." - John Wesley
Coming Next Week - Mindset Training for Students!
Next week during your media time, instead of going to the media center, please bring your class down to the 18 (C18). Katie and myself will be doing some mindset activities with all classes. The book fair will be going on in the media center and this is an opportune time for us to touch base with our students about having a positive mindset!
