Preparation for Virtual Day on Tuesday, November 2nd
Tomorrow, November 2nd, will be the first Online Learning Day of this school year. Teachers will be busy instructing throughout the day tomorrow and will not be able to assist with technology issues. Therefore, preparation is key. Please refer to our Family Support Page if you need any assistance: https://www.cbsd.org/1to1. We have listed below some highlights from the page to help our students have a successful day:
- Refer to our start of school procedures to test your set-up for tomorrow: https://www.cbsd.org/techupdates.
- Ensure student login information (username, user email, and user password) is close by in the event of an update/accidental sign-out.
- Charge your device before the day and keep your charger handy to help ensure your Teams calls will run smoothly.
- Practice accessing the classroom call prior to tomorrow.
- We have staff available to assist today until 4:00pm. Our Help Desk will re-open tomorrow at 7am. Please visit our Tech Support page for assistance: https://www.cbsd.org/Page/63431.
Thank you for your continued support of our staff and students. Learn more about the initiatives of the Technology and Innovation Department on Twitter.
Sincerely,

Pumpkin Contest Winners
A Message from Grubs Ecology...
T’was a week before Halloween and all through the school
The pumpkins were painted And man were they cool!
The families had decorated their pumpkins with care
In hopes that the students would all stop and stare
From pumpkins of Gritty to scary to funny
To enter they gave two dollars of money
Good family fun is what we all had.
To help Grubs Ecology and make the earth glad
To landscape our gazebo at the start of the spring
Thank you to all for the pumpkins you bring.
Grubs thanks all those who participated in our annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest. You made this the most successful Pumpkin Decorating Contest yet! Grubs Ecology plans on building and installing a variety of benches in our outdoor gardens with the money we raised.
We hope you had fun “carving” out some family time to work on your pumpkins. A HUGE THANK YOU ALSO GOES OUT TO ALL WHO BOUGHT TICKETS TO VOTE FOR YOU FAVORITE PUMPKINS…Jamison Elementary Rocks!

Veteran's Day Assembly - November 9th
On Tuesday, November 9th, Jamison staff members will honor our veterans by wearing red, white, and blue. Students also have the ability to support our country by wearing red, white and blue.
Additionally, the 5th grade team will be having a small assembly honoring our Veterans. A “Flag Assembly” will be held in the gymnasium at 9:30 AM. Traditionally, this assembly was always held for the 5th grade students as they are in charge of our school flag; however, this year, we are also extending this invitation to any community member that is currently active, or has served, in our nation’s military. If that particular military member has a child/relative at Jamison, that student is also invited to this patriotic event.
During this assembly, the significance of patriotic symbols will be discussed, the meaning of raising, lowering, and folding the flag correctly, thanking our veterans for their service, and inspirational video clips will be shared.
If a community member is interested in attending and has served, or is currently serving our nation, please email the information below to Lisa Bradley at lbradley@cbsd.org so we can plan accordingly. Please return by November 1, 2021

Helping Hands - Support for Jamison Families in Need
While breakfast and lunch are free for all students this year, there are other supports that may be available for families in need. If your family qualifies for free and reduced lunch, you may also be eligible for specific programs that we have at Jamison Elementary. Here is a link to the application if you have not applied for free and reduced lunch: https://www.cbsd.org/freeandreduced.
We value the confidentiality of our families, and we want to make sure we have your permission to assist you in ways that you may need. The attached Permission to Share form gives our Helping Hands team permission to consider your family for assistance programs such as our holiday gift card drive. If you are not in the free and reduced lunch program and your family has experienced financial hardship you may also fill out the Permission to Share form to be considered for our Helping Hands programs.
Please fill out the attached form below and send it back to Rebecca Levy, our Student Support Counselor. You may also email it as an attachment to rlevy@cbsd.org. If you have any questions about the form or our Helping Hands programs you may reach out to me at rlevy@cbsd.org or call at (267) 893-3510.
