1925:Alaska's Diphtheria Epidemic
Second Grade...... Feb. 26-March 1
Second Graders race across the tundra
Our second book, Togo, tells about the Great Diphtheria Epidemic of 1925 in Nome, Alaska. This is an amazing story that takes us back in time. This is one of Mrs. Hanken's favorite books.
Our nonfiction reader is about Alaska. We will learn many fun facts about our largest state and some of the unique animals that live there.
We will also check out the upcoming Iditarod race that will take place Feb. 28-March 5 in Alaska. It's always fun to see where all the mushers are from and their backgrounds. (I'm interestered in Erin Altemus, a nurse from northern MN, who is running her first Iditarod race!)
