Time to Return PT School Devices!
Students who have checked out a device for home will return the following items to the OCEAN Office on the below dates:
Return Dates for OCEAN:
12th Graders, Monday June 5, 2023 @ PTHS Library
K-11 grade students, June 12-16 @ OCEAN Office
- If a student needs to borrow a device over the summer, they must fill out a “Summer Contract” through the school office.
Failure to return devices on time will result in a replacement fee of $300. This fee will be applied to the student’s Skyward account.
If a student returns a device after school June 16, they need to return the device to Danielle Ferrero in the Business Office located in the Gael Stuart Building. Front Office staff at OCEAN, BHMS or PTHS CANNOT accept devices.
Once our Tech Team assesses the device, the replacement fee will be removed from the students’ Skyward account.
If students or caregivers have any questions, they can contact their school library staff. PTHS Library phone is (360) 379-1777 and BHMS Library is (360) 379-4545 before June 16, 2023.
YMCA Summer Meal Boxes
The YMCA plans to provide food boxes throughout the summer break for any children/youth (ages 0-18) In Jefferson Co. who need extra food this summer, and for their families. In order to make this program a success, we need to hear from families in Jefferson County.
A bit of background: over the last 3+ years of this Food Box Program, we have had to pivot many times to meet the needs of our community. We are going to pivot again: for summer of 2023, each week we will host 4 sites throughout east and south Jefferson County at which families can pick up their food boxes. For families who are interested in our Food Box program, we would like input on site, day of the week, and times that would work best for pick-ups. (If a family would like to receive weekly, food boxes and absolutely cannot make it to a pick-up site, we can arrange home delivery.)
PT PTA Meeting June 8
We will be holding our last PTA meeting of the academic year. We're trying our first in-person meeting after school drop-off:
Thursday, June 8th at 8:30am upstairs at Aldrich's
Zach Moser was nominated and elected at our recent meeting to take over the President role. THANK YOU, Zach! He is a big picture strategic thinker, deeply committed to finding solutions to messy problems, and cares enormously about building community and helping us all feel like we belong. We are all excited to have Zach step into a leadership role with the PTA. It's going to be great!
We are still looking to fill the positions of Secretary and Treasurer:
- The Secretary prepares minutes of meetings.
The Treasurer maintains our financial records, serves as our primary banker, and presents the budget to our membership.
Our current co-Secretary (Alyssa Fuehrer) and Treasurer (Chelsea Rosenberger) are willing to liaise with new board members to ensure a smooth transition. Please consider stepping into one of these roles, or asking someone you know who might have time and energy. And THANK YOU in advance!
We hope you can join us on Thursday, June 8th at 8:30am upstairs at Aldrich's.
Problems with multiple text messages
We have heard from a few families that they are receiving multiple text messages when school communications are sent. We are very sorry this is happening. You can opt out of texts by texting "STOP" to the number sending the messages.
We have contacted support for our messaging company and this is their additional suggestion to resolve the issue:
"This is a known carrier issue with message caching. The recipients will need to reach out and partner with their carrier to clear the cache of messages."
If you are continuing to have this problem please email srubenstein@ptschools.org with your phone number and wireless carrier name and the message creating the problem. We will continue to work with the companies support team to see if we can find a better resolution.
OCEAN Student of the Week
Salvera shined bright during the OCEAN High School Camping trip with CedarRoot. During the 3 day trip, she was always willing to lend a helping hand, cooking at the camp and at the beach, checking in on everyone, and being respectful of the natural world. Her ability to reflect upon her learning and lifting others up makes her an outstanding and valuable member of our OCEAN school. Thank you Salvera for your encouragement, kindness, humor, perspective, and musicality throughout this camping experience and here at OCEAN.
