Second Grade Reminders
This is a BIG week in 2nd grade! Please read the below information carefully.
1. Christmas Musical: The 2nd grade Christmas musical is this Monday, December 4th. Our class performs at 6:00. Please have your child at the Thompson High School Performing Arts Center by 5:30 p.m. dressed and ready to perform. A second grade teacher will be outside to receive your child. Parents will drop their child off and then go inside the PAC to find a seat. Second graders should wear blue jeans and a white, green or red shirt. All 2nd graders will be wearing a headband with either antlers or elf ears so please make sure that hair is styled in a way that will work with a headband.
2. THS State Championship: The Thompson High School football team is headed back to state! Due to the game, we will have early dismissal this Wednesday, December 6th, at 12:45. There will be a two-hour delayed start on Thursday, December 7th. No breakfast will be served. Students should be in class and ready to learn at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday.
3. Santa Shop: Our class will visit the Santa Shop this Thursday, December 7th. Please send any Santa Shop money in an envelope or zippy bag labeled with your child's name.
4. Christmas Party Money and Stocking Stuffers: Christmas party money and stocking stuffers are due this Friday, December 8th. More details about the Christmas party can be found below.
5. Counting Coins: Please have your child practice counting groups of mixed coins at home. Some students are still having trouble with this. Second-graders should be able to count combinations of coins up to $2.00. This is an important life skill and should be mastered in second grade!
Christmas Party Information
We are beginning to plan for our class Christmas party which will be on Thursday, December 14th. We will be wearing pajamas on party day!
We are asking for $10 to cover the cost of party and Polar Express supplies. Please send CASH ONLY by Friday, December 8th.
One parent per child is invited to join us for a game of BINGO while second graders enjoy a pancake brunch from 9:00-9:45. Due to space, no siblings, please. I am sending a Google form for you to RSVP. Please fill that out as soon as you can.
We will have sack lunches in the room on this day so no lunch visitors, please.
Stocking Stuffers:
Instead of students exchanging gifts, we will be stuffing stockings for each student.
I am asking that each child bring in 19 individual items for the stockings. We have 11 girls and 8 boys in our class.
Some examples of treats you might send for the stockings are as follows: small toys, bracelets, candy, bookmarks, highlighters, small notepads, bubbles, individually wrapped snacks, tattoos, stickers, lip balm, etc. Small items are ideal stocking stuffers. The students are going to love whatever they receive.
PLEASE, do not send in anything with NUTS.
Please have stocking stuffers sent in by Friday, December 8th.
Polar Express Day:
We will have a school-wide Christmas sing-along on Friday, December 15th. We will also be watching The Polar Express that day. Students may wear pajamas. We will dismiss at 1:00 on Friday, December 15th. Students return on Thursday, January 4th for the second semester.
Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns! Please let me know if you need help purchasing the stocking stuffers and I will be happy to help.
