The World and Media Literacy..
My View On The Media...
Media Literacy to me is media that has meaningful words behind it. The media can be a scary place. It has taken over society today. We all look to the media to entertain us when we are bored. Maybe we have nothing to do at home so we just get on our phones and go on different social media apps like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. We sometimes always rely on Social Media to keep us busy so we don’t lose our minds. Using these apps when you’re bored or even in a bad mood can lead to cyberbullying or even just being out right mean to your peers. Often, cyberbullying can lead to self-harm or even suicide. It’s really sad how someone can sit behind a computer or phone screen and just be so ignorant and mean to one of their peers. It’s disgusting to be honest. Another way people look to the media is by downloading dating apps. They try to start dating online rather than going out and finding someone on their own, they rely on the app to do it for them. Our generation is the worst with this. All teens usually look to the internet to find love and it’s really sad. No one really goes on dates anymore it’s just “Hey, let’s Face time” or “Hey, let’s Skype.” A lot of times online dating results in catfishing which is when one person acts like another person and uses someone else’s pictures to pose as them. It just all needs to stop. The media is a bad place and will only keep getting worse since everything is pretty much online now.

Social Media Consumes Us
Social Media
Bullying
Social media has honestly ruined us as a whole. Society is pretty messed up now because we're so easily influenced by anything that any one puts on social media. Social media has its pros and cons. Bullying is one of the many cons. Bullying is a big part of social media. The reason why bullying is a big part of social media is because it mostly occurs online, you can’t help but believe it because if it’s on the internet it must be true right? This is called cyber bullying. It's so easy for people nowadays to bully because all they have to do is sit behind a computer screen. They don't really have to make an effort to hurt others. They find joy in being "anonymous" and get a kick out of hurting others feelings. Its super common for a person to cause harm to themselves or even commit suicide because of cyber bullying. Bullying on social media really can take a toll on a person's life and/or their emotions. Bullying can lead to a person having serious depression or even different disorders that they have to be treated for, for the rest of their lives. Teens are usually the ones doing all the hateful stuff online. They are reckless and don’t care about others. If we were to look ten years ahead, I would say cyber bullying and bullying in general would get better. Bullies would most likely just want everyone to be treated fairly. I don’t think social media could get any worse than it is right now. Right now, it’s probably at its high. No one cares how others feel so it’s super easy for everyone to bully each other. Social media plays a bigger part in our lives than you think. We get so caught up in the “fun” in social media that we forget to look at the bigger picture. Social Media offers us so much and we take that for granted. Social media will only improve in the next ten years. We can connect with more people and have fun while doing it.
Tim Tebow T-Mobile
In the nationally aired advertisement, “Tim Tebow shows you what you can dowith #nocontract”, T-Mobile, one of the nation’s leading mobile cellular communications companies, suggests that “without one (contract) I’ve done so much this year” and in the process offers customers of other cellular communications companies a viable option to get out of their current contract. T-Mobile develops their opinion on contracts by featuring popular NFL Star Tim Tebow, whom was not signed to a NFL team at the time therefore was out of contract, juxtaposing him doing unrealistic tasks , like being a doctor yelling out playcalls, or impossible situations, such as tackling bigfoot and taking a selfie with him. Using these unfeasible circumstances (being a play calling doctor, tackling bigfoot, and catching a football in space), T-Mobile overstates how life without a contract is so much better; in fact, Tim Tebow claims that “contracts are limiting”. T-Mobile first apparent audience is NFL fans because the advertisement opens and close with NFL star Tim Tebow, however, by the use of exaggerated scenarios, Tim Tebow and T-Mobile make this advertisement friendly, funny, and appealing to all.
Are we a nation of proles?
The passage reflects today's society by saying everyone has the same schedule everyday and not knowing any thing different. As American citizens we tend to believe we have freedoms, liberty and rights we actually low key don’t. We have a government that makes us believe certain things such as who's the bad guy and our personal privacy. As our world gets updated to technology we loose more privacy by the minute. We can’t even know whether or not we are being heard or watched. Although many of us know these precautions we do it anyways since we are manipulated into living within these circumstances and grow up knowing no other way. Although we all believe we have different taste, we have similar likes since we all tend to get judged wearing clothes that isn’t “in season”. Maybe your hair doesn't look good or your makeup and you get judged for it. Social Media plays a big role in our "controlling society." To be honest anything we see on social media, or reality TV, or even movies we always believe is true. We make ourselves out to be "those" people you see in those types of medias. We fear the judgement of everyone about our own selves. The way we act even reflects off of the TV shows or movies we watch. They make us think everything is perfect in the world when in reality its not. The media's the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that's power. Because they control the minds of the masses. It takes discipline not to let social media steal your time.

Reflection
I believe that my opinion in my first Smore entry hasn’t changed. Social media is most likely only going to get worse and disconnect us from others more and more. Technology is only improving and it’s kind of scary to think a little phone or tablet could do that. I learned about what’s going on around the world from the CNN news every morning. I also learned that Mrs. Hicks is the best teacher ever. I learned that you shouldn’t put off work to the last minute and to always come to class. I’m taking away that you should always be positive, have an open mind, and to keep up on what’s happening around the world because it’s pretty interesting. I’ve never had a class that mostly all online and through videos. We didn’t have actual multiple choice question tests and that’s pretty amazing because I’m a terrible test taker. I've never had a class where everything we turned in was online and we barley took notes which was nice. I liked how we watched movies and videos to really understand what we were looking at or learning about. The only thing i can say should be done differently is to not have all this work at the end all of a sudden. We should have an equal amount of work all semester long. But this is probably one of my favorite classes I've ever taken because i understand technology a lot better than a textbook.
Donald Trump
Donald Trump addressed supporters at a victory rally in Florida, after winning four states in the March 15th primaries. In regards to the Iranian nuclear deal trump stated "we give them $150 billion, we get nothing.". This statement is false. The $150 billion belonged to Iran and was frozen under economic sanctions, therefore the US did not give it to Iran. The US verified the Iran nuclear deal which prompted the US and other countries to lift sanctions. Frozen money is only released because of the Iran nuclear program. Even though the other assets are still blocked due to other sanctions over Iran. Moreover it is important to realize that we did receive something in return for lifting sanctions. We received the peace of mind that Iran is blocked from building a nuclear bomb. This is an example of why it is so important for society to look deeper and learn the whole story. Donald Trump said that the name of the country, other than that it was all mixed up lies and misunderstandings. You cannot make an assumption about a story or politician with fake facts. Trump is far from the truth. He makes the country we are living in sound bad and I don’t think that is what he should be doing when running for president.
Ted Cruz
"Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton and Donald share the similar position on health care; they want to put the government in charge of your doctor and you. " On January 31st, Ted Cruz made a claim against three of his fellow candidates on “Meet the Press.” Cruz falsely claims that Trump, Clinton, and Sanders share similar views on health care. These candidates have really different views on health care. Trump has not released his plan on health care but has always stated that he would veto the Affordable Care Act. On the other hand, Clinton’s view on health care is to defend and expand upon the Affordable Care Act. Although, Sanders plans to introduce universal health care and also expand Medicare. The candidates have super different views on health care which leads to the conclusion that Cruz’s claim is totally false. To make a full and informed position on this topic you must know the candidate’s positions on health care. I think that Ted Cruz ignorantly made a comment about his opponents position on health care to gain more votes.
Hillary Clinton
ISIS is going to people showing videos of Donald Trump insulting Islam and Muslims in order to recruit more radical jihadists. At the New Hampshire democratic presidential debate Clinton stated that ISIS is showing videos of Donald Trump insulting Islam and Muslims to recruit Muslim extremists. After in depth research Politifact found no evidence of such videos and ruled this statement untrue. In order to know if this statement is true, it is very important to know what evidence is out there that supports the statement. However when there is no evidence that supports the statement it can be inferred that the statement is not true.
Can We Auto-Correct Humanity?
Technology is a big part of our daily lives. It starts with our kids and controlling their technology use. We shouldn’t let our kids have phones so early on in their life. They should be outside playing with their friends and not sitting behind a computer screen. Our generation and younger have been so captured by technology like phones and computers. Social media has ruined and even killed kids our age or younger. We should not allow people to cyber bully children and say whatever mean thing they want, and hide behind a computer screen. For some people, they can control themselves with usage of social media. You may think, “I’m not addicted, I can quit anytime!” Well if you have more Facebook friends than real friends, something must be done. We can track our time online, remember the telephone, go outside, limit our memberships, use our networks productively, prioritize, stop procrastinating, remove the cellphone apps, and spend more time with friends and family. There should be certain rules parents have for their kids usage of technology or even for yourself. We wouldn’t be where we are today without social media, but for the right reasons. People are stronger than social media because we can easily think before we act and think before we speak.
