Principal's Message
It is hard to believe that May is here and this school year is winding down. We still have time left with our students, and every minute counts. We have had an incredibly busy few weeks, and the rest of May will certainly be even busier. Thank you for understanding that we are unable to accommodate visitors on our upcoming STAAR testing days: Monday, May 8 through Wednesday, May 10. I'd also like to remind everyone that the last day for lunch visitors and WATCH D.O.G.S. is Friday, May 19.
The assistant principals will be joining me on the roof of Robison on May 24 because of your generosity with our Fun Run this year! We are looking forward to greeting our students from the roof as they arrive that morning, and waving to them throughout their recess that day. That afternoon, the homerooms with the top contributions from each grade level will be able to attend a special "rock" concert from the administrative team. Congratulations to the following homerooms: Mrs. Picciotti, Mrs. Russi, Ms. Lieberman, Mrs. Hussey, Mrs. Moran, and Mrs. Strahan! Madison King, a 3rd grade student, will be principal of the day for raising the greatest amount in pledges.
Last but not least, please consider attending our volunteer luncheon on Friday, May 12 if you have volunteered in any capacity. Please send your rsvp to Sally Hall so we will be sure to order enough boxed lunches (sally.hall@cfisd.net).
Please check out all of the important dates and information below!
Important Dates for 2017-2018
Yearbooks
Yearbooks were sent home yesterday with every child who ordered one. Our yearbook staff has been selling extra books today, and if books are still available, they will sell them again on Thursday, May 11. The cost is $35, and they will accept cash or credit/debit cards. Checks will not be accepted. If your child would like to have their yearbook autographed by their classmates, they may bring them back to school on May 12 for a special autograph time on that day with their grade level. Students that did not purchase a yearbook or who do not want their book signed will be given a special autograph paper.
Thank you to our amazing yearbook committee for the countless hours they contributed to this beautiful yearbook! We appreciate you!!
5th Grade Celebration Day & Awards Celebration
Our 5th grade students will enjoy a very special day on Monday, May 22. Parents are welcome to come for their walk of honor beginning at 9:00 am sharp. After their walk, they will enjoy the class talent show. We invite parents to stay for that as well. After the talent show, only volunteers will be able to stay with the students. Our students will be treated to lunch and then have the opportunity to participate in tons of fun--inflatables, water slides, a DJ, Minute-to-Win It games and more.
On Tuesday, May 23 at 6:00 pm at the Cy Woods auditorium, our 5th grade students will be recognized for their completion of elementary school and other awards. This is always a special event!
End-of-Year Parties for PK-4th Grade
Our PK, PPCD, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades will have their parties on the very last day of school, May 25. Parents are invited to the classroom to see the teachers present the end of year awards. The students will have a snack and drink during this time. RSVP forms are below, and they are being sent home today. Please send in the form by the due date so you will be able to check in quickly. Name tags will be ready for you by the front doors if you pre-register. If you do not send in the RSVP, or if you have never had your driver's license scanned, then you will need to check in at one of our front desks, which will delay your arrival to the classroom.
The students will also get to celebrate with all of their friends during large group time. They will get to play on inflatables, have some Kona Ice, and play games. This is great fun for the students, so please be sure to check the schedule below to be sure your child does not miss out. We appreciate all members of our PTO for providing this very special day for our students!

IMPORTANT NEWS FROM OUR REGISTRAR REGARDING ATTENDANCE
Here is some helpful information from our attendance secretary (registrar), Angela Johnson.
Students are required to provide a note from a parent or guardian for each absence within 3 days from the date of the absence or consecutive absences. This note is to include student’s name and grade, reason for absence, telephone number of parent or guardian and signature of parent or guardian.
Warning Notices/Parent Notification letters
If a student is absent from school three days or parts of days in a four week period without parental consent, the state of Texas requires school districts to notify parents. So if a student is out for three days and a note is not sent in to school, within 3 days, this is considered “without parental consent” and a court warning letter will be generated and sent home.
The state of Texas requires school districts to notify a student’s parent or legal guardian in writing if the student is absent from school 10 or more days or parts of days within a six month period in the same school year.
Please always send in doctor notes if your child has been to the doctor.
Lastly, letters are sent home after 10 absences have occurred. Even if all the absences are excused, a letter will be mailed out to as courtesy to let you know your student is nearing the 17 absence max. Students are required to attend 90% of the time in order to receive credit for the class.

Perhaps you wait in the car rider line each day...this is a perfect opportunity to get out of your car and tend to the garden. Have a few extra minutes before meeting your child for lunch?
