What's a Celebration without Music?

May is filled with celebrations, and among them is Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month-- a commemoration of the culture, traditions and history of Asian American and Pacific Islander people in the United States. In schools and classrooms, Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month is an excellent time to explore the rich history and culture of people who are AAPI as well as analyzing the bias and discrimination faced by them. This year, with the rise in violence against Americans of Asian descent, it's especially important to spend some time honoring the contributions and heritage of Asian and Pacific Islander Americans.
By the numbers!

Learn about demographics in the US from the source itself, the U.S. Census, along with why May is dedicated to celebrating Asian American & Pacific Islanders' heritage.

Big picture
Celebrating APPI Voices with

Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities encompass a wide range of cultures and lived experiences, and each one is an important part of the American narrative. Their stories are American stories, and their voices deserve to be heard.

Hear from a student! #ownvoices

This great interview features a high school senior talking about his experiences being Asian American and his ideas for celebrating AAPI Heritage Month.

Anti AAPI Bullying Resources

You don't have to have AAPI students in your classroom or your school to address the rise in bullying and violence again AAPI community members. Let's give our students the tools and resources to stand up against all bigotry!
