Extended School Closure
I want to start by saying THANK YOU! Society has been dealt many challenges as we navigate the uncharted waters that COVID-19 has brought us. Parents are hit the hardest because of the financial burdens, childcare, continuing your child's education, etc. Over the past few weeks we have had to change many things as a school and district and we appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we make changes to ensure we are meeting state requirements and serving our students to the best of our abilities. As you know, it is a very fluid situation and the government will continue to make changes and we will keep you informed of any impacts it has on the food program or virtual learning. With all the challenges and changes we have faced over the past few weeks, parents have been very understanding, supportive and amazing teammates in educating our kids. Thank you for this!
I also want to let you know that we are willing to help. Please call with any questions or concerns and we will help in any way that we can. I also want to let you know to simply do your best with the virtual learning. We want the virtual learning to provide you engaging resources that will help your child continue to learn and grow and to make your days go better. Play math games with your kids, make time for reading and journaling, have them do projects; we want it to be a time that they can learn with you in a fun manner. At this time, we are not expecting parents to introduce new content to kids, we want you to simply help them apply what they have learned, retain what they have learned, and stay engaged. We do not want virtual learning to be a major stress to your family; we want it to help your family. Simply do your best and make it fun.
I am a firm believer that during difficult and challenging times we come out better. I am also hopeful that we will unite during these difficult times. It is important that we maintain a positive attitude, help people when we can, ask for help if you need it, and work together. We need to do this for each other and our kids. Again, thank you for all of your collaboration and let us know if there is anything, we can do to help your family.
Sincerely,
Tony Duffek
