GOD HAS A PLAN
This Sunday kids are learning that "God Has a Plan" as we learn about the story of an angel appearing to Joseph from Matthew 1:18-25.
God has a plan. We know this to be true. I think sometimes as I'm reading the Bible I can feel like my life is so different from the people that were living then. It's so easy for me to see the plans that God had for them because it's spelled out; I just need to keep reading. God's plan will always succeed but sometimes that's hard to keep hold of in the waiting.
When Joseph found out that Mary was pregnant, I'm sure that he was questioning if there was really a plan in place or if God was in control of it. But then, the angel came to him in a dream. Bob Goff says, "Be patient when it gets weird. The angels explained things to Joseph after he talked to Mary, not before." With the perspective that we have now, it can be easy to forget that.
But God is outside of time and because all time is in God, the flow of time never concerns God. The future is not futuristic to Him because He's already there, seeing the breakthrough, seeing the fulfillment to the plan we haven't reached yet. For Joseph, it was that he would be the father to the Son of God, our Savior. For you and your circumstance, you might not know what that is, but it's already written and God's already there.
Let's ask for our faith to be increased as we hold fast to the hope we have in plans yet to be fulfilled. Let's believe now for what we'll be able to clearly see in hindsight.
