UNIT 2 REFLECTION
Period 3 Theresa Min
The unit 2 reflection consists of one step , two step and multistep equations. we have learned to do these with rational numbers, not irrational numbers. This improved our skills of checking and being more careful with the many steps.
one step equations
one step equations are the simplest out of all of them. there are a variable and a constant. the constant is the number that we know of. The variable is of a value we do not know of. we always do the inverse operation on the constant . the constant turns into a zero because it evens out each other.so if it was adding then we would do subtraction.
two-step equation.
two step equations is just a extra step. so we do all of the steps we did before but we are left with -18x = -180.so this is multiplication so we divide to do inverse. so -18x/-18 is left with x , because the numbers cancel each other out.so -180/-18 . they are both negative and it makes a positive numbers .so we have x=10
multi-step
multi step has 4 steps to it . distribution, combining common like terms on the same side ,subtracting or adding, and lastly multiplying or dividing. there are no distributing and combining like terms. so usually you subtract from the constant first . so i did 12 -12 because i did inverse and i have to do the same on the other side. so i got 22 and i do +3a to -3a to cancel out. so 8a+3a= 11a=22. so i divide because this is a multiplication problem. i am left with the answer of a=2
i have learned these steps and i hope to have taught others. although it was difficult. you really have to be careful about you math and check it. when checking your math plug the answer where the variable and be careful. i learned to take my time.
