The Carolina Northern Flying Squirrel lives in western North Carolina, where it is moist and cool.
How is it Being Threatened?
Although there are natural and human related reasons for its endangerment, the Carolina Flying Squirrel is endangered mainly because of the human reasons. Clearing of forests, invasive species, and pollution are reasons for its endangerment.
How is it Being Protected?
Projects like the the one that connected two sides of a road to allow for the squirrels to cross, and finding new ways to harvest trees that won't disturb the squirrels are a few examples of measures that people have taken to help preserve these squirrels.
