Update from Sugar Land MS - March 19, 2020
Titan Community Update
Much has transpired in the few days since I last updated you, so I hope that you have been reading the information sent by the district via email, social media platforms, such as Twitter, and that is posted on the district's website devoted to the COVID-19 situation. By now you should be aware that the district campuses and offices are closed through April 10.
Rest assured that leaders at all levels are highly engaged at this time to move instruction to an online format. This is no small task, and district and campus leaders have been hard at work to build a framework and structure to meet students' current and future needs during this unprecedented time. Teachers are becoming a part of this construction process, as well. Please take a moment to view the video below from Dr. Dupre which explains this process in a candid, yet informative way.
Please remember that perfection cannot be the enemy of the good. Meaning, as we work toward online instruction and as we manage our expectations around this significant shift, we acknowledge that there will be imperfections and problems to arise. However, with everyone's patience and engagement, we will not only survive this challenge, but come out thriving on the other side as better people, citizens, and humans. Thank you for your support of Sugar Land MS and of your child. We wish everyone health, peace, and wellness at this time.
Please scroll through and check out the important information below.
Sincerely,
Keith Fickel, Principal

FBISD Teacher Talks
Please take a moment to check out this brief video from FBISD teacher, Julie Borque, regarding the importance of routines in a child's daily life. She offers great advice (and we're a little biased, because Mrs. Borque was Mr. Fickel's daughter's 2nd grade teacher at Settlers Way ES...)
Online Curriculum Update from Dr. Dupre - March 18, 2020
Listen as Dr. Dupre helps explain the work the district is doing to transition into an online learning environment in a purposeful, thoughtful way, which will also support learning into the future.
Medication in the Clinic
If your child has any kind of medication in the clinic, please look for an email from Nurse Lincoln to arrive in your email inbox. She is working to help you get them picked up. You may also leave her a voice message at (281) 634-8745 or email her at angela.lincoln@fortbendisd.com.
