STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
STEAM Activity
Ms. Blaine and Mr. Medica's students engaged in a STEAM activity where they were challenged to use candy corn and tooth picks to build the tallest, free-standing structure they could. It was a tough job, but all the students pitched in and worked hard to create towers. The winners were able to build a 7 inch tower! The students learned about engineering challenges like material limitations, and practiced teamwork!
Mastering Decimals
Students in Mr. Goodwin's class had to solve a variety of multiplication of decimals problems to find the right clues to solve three riddles to conquer their escape rooms. Between finding the code to unscrambling words to answer the riddle students worked hard to escape and master decimals!
The Monkey's Paw
Mrs. McLaughlin's students read a short story called "The Monkey's Paw" and then had to choose two of the five project ideas. Some of the choices were to rewrite the ending of the story, create a short story about wishes, illustrate and write about the mood of the story, write a book review, or create a comic strip representing the most relevant parts of the story.
Mrs. Anzalone’s 8th English class reviewed the elements of plot from the short story, "The Monkey's Paw," while walking a life-size plot diagram on the floor. Then, they created an alternate ending to “The Monkey’s Paw.” One student created his own monkey’s paw out of clay.

Library Raffle
The Library held a raffle for 6 lucky students to have the opportunity to be the first to check out our copies of the newest "Baby Sitters Club" and "Guts" graphic novels! There were tons of entry tickets and 6 excited winners!
A Sweet Thank You!
Blue team students created a Science themed thank you card and poster to say thank you for being a great teacher during Dr. Szypula's absence. Mrs. Ryan did a fantastic job as the blue team Science teacher, and she left the students well prepared and excited for Dr. Szypula's return!
COMMUNITY PRIDE
Gilda's Club Donation
Student Council donated $400 to Gilda's Club this past week after a month-long fundraiser of pink shoelaces, scrunchies, and water bottle decals. Gilda's Club is a local organization that offers various means of support to local families affected by breast cancer. A special thanks goes to the girl's Field Hockey team for helping raise $50 towards the donation through a collection bin at one of their most recent games!
Please look for upcoming information about our next collection for giving back to our community! We will be hosting a food drive from November 18 to December 4! Thank you for your continued support!
In Honor of Veteran's Day
Miss Yaffee's students made thank you and holiday cards for Veterans and active duty soldiers! These cards will be dropped off at the local VFW on Friday for distribution!
In honor of Veteran's Day, Mrs. Costino's 7th grade Art classes created thank you cards. Students created an optical illusion American flag using line, color and value. Inside the card they included thoughtful messages for our veterans. Cards were dropped off at the Mays Landing Applebee’s, and distributed to the veterans.
