The Azadi Tower
The Azadi Tower is an amazing piece of architecture that mirrors the Elburz Mountain range. It has beautiful aesthetics, along with multiple numerical amazements. There are many cool things about it such as its structure, its shape, and its meaning. It means a lot to the people of Iran.
The Azadi Tower is located in Tehran, Iran. Hussein Amanat was the architect. He planned to design it out of white marble, and he did. It is a large boxy room on top of four curved arches. According to BBC.com, the tower is built to be a symbol of freedom, hence the name, Azadi, which means to be free. It is comparable to the Milad Tower because they both represent freedom.
The Azadi Tower is a whopping 148 feet tall. According to Payvand.com, the tower is comprised of eight thousand marble blocks. In the forty-four years it has been constructed, it has never been cleaned. It is simply too large. All in all, the Azadi tower is extremely impressive.
According to iranreview.org ,“The tower is part of the Azadi cultural complex, located in Tehran's 50,000-square-meter Azadi square, which is made up of a museum and several fountains.” That's over fifty football fields. Notably, it costed six million dollars to build. Twice the amount it took to build the Thomas Jefferson monument. It was built in 1971. Overall, the Azadi Tower is a monumental success.
The Azadi Tower is an amazing piece of architecture. It combines many things people admire. Gigantic scale along with very attractive art and good symbolism. It gives many people hope. Consequently, it is much like Iran's Statue of Liberty.
