NEWSLETTER | TERM 1 | WEEK 4 | 25 FEBRUARY 2022

Rebecca Clarke | Principal
Dear parent and caregivers,
This week the weather has been a little kinder and students have enjoyed the outdoor areas during recess and lunch while staff enjoyed the cooler conditions.
A big thank you to our families for being so understanding and adapting so well to the new Covid protocols of no parents on the school grounds for drop off and pick up. As you would have seen all staff are out on duty in the mornings and afternoons and the students have made a smooth transition to this new procedure. A reminder that the school gates and the Kiss and Drive open at 8:15am. Students should not be at school before this time unless they are attending Camp Australia. All students will be dismissed at the normal time of 2:50pm. Please continue to be in contact with your child’s classroom teacher if you have any concerns or queries.
As Covid positive cases increase I would like to remind you that if you or a family member living in your house has received a positive covid test result or been classed as a close contact and required to isolate, please inform myself as soon as possible via email (rebecca.clarke@cewa.edu.au). If a positive case is detected within our school community, you will receive a notification via SMS or email from myself or Emma Fernandez, Assistant Principal.
This week our Year 3 to 6 students had a go at wearing their masks to school on “Wear a Mask Wednesday’. Our wonderful teachers organised a number of activities that the students could participate in while wearing masks. This was a great opportunity for students to practice correct mask wearing procedures and also explore the challenges that they might face. While masks are not yet mandated, I do encourage students to continue to bring a mask to school and practice wearing it throughout the day.
Two weeks ago, the school underwent a Ventilation Audit through CEWA. The report has been received and all learning areas have been given the all-clear with approved and acceptable ventilation. We will continue to monitor the ventilation in all rooms with doors and windows open and air-conditioning running throughout the day.
Finally, I ask that you keep the Irene McCormack Catholic College community in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn the tragic loss of one of their students during the week.
I wish everyone a lovely weekend!
God bless
Rebecca Clarke
Principal

Project Compassion, Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday
Project Compassion Launch
Project Compassion will be launched next Tuesday. The Year 4 - 6 students will tune in online to watch the offical launch. Just a reminder that Project Compassion boxes are due back to school on Thursday, 31 March.
Shrove Tuesday
To celebrate the launch and Shrove (Pancake) Tuesday the students will be supplied with pikelets. These would be distributed in a safe manner with gloves / tongs etc. We are asking students to make a gold coin donation (straight into the class Project Compassion box) for the pikelets.
Ash Wednesday
Due to current COVID-19 restrictions the whole school Ash Wednesday Mass cannot take place this year. The Year 5/6 Class will celebrate with the Ash Wednesday Liturgy with Father Peter. Once Father Peter has blessed the ashes the Leadership team will go around and distribute them to the other classes.
Pupil Free Day
A reminder that next Friday, 4 March is a Pupil Free Day. We hope that you enjoy the extra family time with your beautiful children.
March Munch - the vegetable challenge
Crunch&Sip is quick break during the morning learning block, where students eat a small number of vegetables and/or fruit. Throughout March, students at St Elizabeth's, will be encouraged to bring only vegetables for their Crunch & Sip.
Although most primary school kids in WA are doing a great job of eating enough fruit, only 1 in 6 eat enough vegetables. Choosing vegetables for Crunch&Sip is a great way for kids to increase their overall vegetable intake and get one step closer to meeting the healthy eating guidelines.
Each week, during March, the class that has the largest number of students eating vegetables will win a prize.
To further promote healthy eating, please see the attached suggestions to make a healthy swap in your child's lunchbox.
Take a look at these Healthy Swap Suggestions!

Seeking Parent Class Rep volunteers
As we grow together and build community, we are seeking to expand our Parent Class Rep network. This may be one or two parents per class who volunteer to be a Class Rep, with a focus on welcoming new families, arranging opportunities to families to connect and helping to keep parents informed. If you are interested, please let the P&F know by emailing the office on admin@stecps.wa.edu.au

P&F - Sockable Fundraiser
Join in the fun of socks! Attached is the order forms for the P&F Sockable Fundraiser. The fundraiser commences today and concludes on the17th March. To order you simply scan the QR code on the attached order forms and pay online. Unfortunately, we cannot accept cash for this event.

St Anthony's Netball Club - Seeking Players!
St Anthony’s Wanneroo Netball Club is looking for expressions of interest for players to join our club for the 2022 winter season at the Wanneroo Districts Netball Association (WDNA). We would like to extend an invite not only to the students of St Anthony’s but also to participants who live locally and attend other schools around our area.
St Anthony’s Wanneroo Netball Club has officially been running as a registered club for two years, however, it has been participating in WDNA competitions for many years prior to this as a school-based club.
We encourage all who may be interested in joining a team to consider contacting us. In particular, we are looking for players for our Year 4 team (players born between July 2012 and June 2013).
We are all about learning the game of netball in a fun and safe environment and all abilities are welcome.
Prices for registration:
Year 2 & Year 3 $247
Year 4 & 5 $256
Year 6 $280
Please email the club your expressions of interest and any questions you may have.
