Wrapping Up the Year
I would also like to thank our PTO and Dad's club for being right there whenever we reached out. Thank you Christi Megow for pushing through and keeping the PTO nominating process going. Dad's club for helping with decor as we plan to celebrate our 5th graders. Meric Pinkerton for organizing our teacher appreciation celebration. I certainly know I could never thank everyone by name. However, please know that your efforts are always appreciated!

Report cards for the year will be mailed from the district office but if for some reason you do not receive yours via mail, please contact Mrs. Sims and she can provide an electronic copy. I would give at least to June 5th before following up on mailed report cards.
Summer School
Picking Up Student Items From School
We will finally have access to the building beginning May 21st. It is important to know that the school will not be open for parents or students to come in. Below is an outline of procedures for coming to the campus to collect items that your children might have left in the classrooms. We also ask that when you come to the campus you bring library books, safety patrol vest/belts, your car tags, student guided reading book bags and any classroom books. HISD has implemented strict policies for social distancing to keep employees and our community safe. I am responsible for ensuring that these guidelines are strictly followed. PLEASE adhere to all procedures and times listed below.
Pick up Procedures:
- Picking up items will be done by drive-through only. We will not be able to accommodate parents that walk to walk up and pick up. This is for everyone's safety!
- Remain in your vehicles. Do not exit your vehicles to open your trunk or adjust items in the trunk for space. Please ensure there is space before you arrive and we are able to access your trunk
- On your dash please have visible your child's first name, last name, grade, teacher
- Once items are retrieved exit the loop so we are able to keep the line moving
- Social distancing and PPE is required for all employees. You will see that we will have spacing for employees and all employees will wear mask.
- Please only come at your assigned grade level time
- If you have children in multiple grade levels, you will have an assigned time to pick up
- 5th grade pick up will be coordinated with their promotion activities. A separate communication will be sent to 5th grade families
- Boxes will be available for library book drop off, safety patrol belts/vest, car tags, return of classroom books and guided reading book bags. Expect to receive a communication from your classroom teacher to notify you if your child has a library book should be turned in.
- We understand that not everyone may have items at school that you want to retrieve. Expect an email from your child's teacher that will ask you to confirm if you are planning to pick up or not. Teachers really need this information as they will need to pack up items for each child.
- We have already been pricing school supplies for next year and know that prices have gone up. In an effort to save for the upcoming year, we are asking that you allow teachers to keep any unused items. This will go a long way in helping for next year.
- Yearbooks will be available for pick up for those students that have ordered yearbooks. If you are still interested in ordering a yearbook, visit the PTO website to purchase online.

Other Questions that have come up
Do we know what the start of school looks like in August?
Unfortunately we do not. Each week we get bits of information based on what our district is hearing from the state and Harris County.
Will Lovett still have summer enrichment?
No, unfortunately with the uncertainties of the summer, we will not be able to hold summer enrichment as planed. We will be in direct contact with parents that registered their children to discuss the process for getting a refund.
Will the campus have a kindergarten round up for 20-21 entering kindergarten?: We will host a kinder round up on Monday, May 18th that 2:00. If you have an entering kinder and did not receive the Zoom link, please contact Mrs. Boynton.
Will the main office be open to the public in the summer?: The school will not be open during the summer, but administrators have been given clearance to access the building as needed. The best way to communicate with us during the summer is via email.
If I have technology borrowed from the school when should I return it? We will contact families to drop off technology by June 1st. If your child is slated for summer school and the technology is needed you are able to keep it until July 2nd. We will reach out directly to the impacted families and coordinate drop off.
