The Tohickon Golden Eagle
November 2020
THE FIRST MARKING PERIOD ENDS
Dear Tohickon Families,
On November 10, the first marking period of the 2020-2021 School Year concludes. The start of this year has been unlike any other as we have worked through this very challenging time period. Our students, families and teachers have worked diligently to make the best of a very difficult situation. Regardless of the challenging environment, we remain positive and want to make sure that our students know we are there for them every single day.
There are some key things to remember as the marking period comes to an end and I am asking for your help as we approach November 10. First, please help in making sure your child(ren) have completed all of their summative assessments. It is critically important that all summative assessments are completed and submitted as soon as possible so that accurate grades can be reported. Secondly, please go in to the The Infinite Campus Parent Portal to verify that all assignments have been turned in. The Infinite Campus Parent Portal is the official location for student grading. Lastly, please remember that, unlike the Spring of 2020, all summative grades DO COUNT this year. If you have any questions or concerns about what you feel are inaccuracies, please reach out to your child's teacher and/or our guidance department at 267-893-3310.
Generally speaking, I am amazed and appreciative of the efforts of our students and teachers to adapt to this unique time period. I have a unique opportunity, as the principal, to walk through our hallways daily and hear all of the amazing interactions that are taking place with those in the building and those on-line. There is consistently a high level of focus by our students and a determination by our teachers to provide the best education possible.
The month of November typically kicks off the holiday season with Thanksgiving. This year, Thanksgiving Break will take place between November 25 and November 27. I am hopeful that our students and families will have an opportunity to enjoy this special time time with each other and have the opportunity to take a well deserved break.
On behalf of the staff at Tohickon Middle School, I wish you a wonderful month! If you have any general questions, please do not hesitate to contact us in the main office at 267-893-3300.
Sincerely,
Mr. Marton, Tohickon Principal
CAN MY CHILD GO TO SCHOOL TODAY?
HYBRID STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO ATTEND SCHOOL ON THEIR DESIGNATED DAYS
Students that are signed up for the Hybrid are expected to be in school on their designated days. If a student is sick, but still able to participate virtually, we can still give them credit for the day IF their parents inform Ms. Meadows in the attendance office. Ms. Meadows email is dmeadows@cbsd.org.
Success Plan 2020
The CBSD Success Plan takes middle school and high school students on a journey of self-assessment, career research, and post-secondary options. Using Naviance, students will take various surveys to identify their unique skills and discover what “sparks” their interests. Students will use specific research tools to investigate which career pathways are best suited to their skills and interests. Each year of the Success Plan, students will reflect upon their grade-level activities and use their newly gained insights to make decisions about program planning, extra-curricular participation, and community engagement. Beginning on Wednesday, November 4th, Success Plan will be incorporated into the Advisory/Snack Time after 4th period throughout the school year.
CB Votes!
The Central Bucks Social Studies and Instructional Technology Departments are collaborating to give K-12 students lessons about civics, voting, the electoral college, and elections, which culminate in students taking part in CB’s mock election held on Friday, October 30th. All CB students had the opportunity to cast their votes virtually for the next President of the United States and the US House of Representatives (PA District 1) through Microsoft Forms (our online voting platform). CB High School Seniors created an announcement identifying the results of the CB mock election. You can view the CB Votes results in the space below.

From the Nurse's Office
Message from the Health Office
We are getting into the colder weather, which also means the start of Cold and Flu season along with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Please remind your children to wash their hands often since we know that is the best way to stop the spread of germs. Keep your child/children home with cold symptoms since they mimic that of COVID-19 and it is difficult to know the difference. When in doubt please reach out to your health care provider for guidance. If your child needs medication, please administer it at home as the health office does not have any cold medication. Your child may carry their own personal supply of cough drops with them but absolutely no other medication is permitted without a physician’s order.
If you know anyone in our school community who needs help please reach out to the health office (267-893-3315) or email Sheila Kelly, Certified School Nurse at shkelly@cbsd.org.
