Cause of Disease

How It's Transmitted

It is usually spread in the form of a spore. (A spore is a form of bacteria that take when there is no food supply.) Spores can even grow in the human body. There are three main ways it spreads, Skin: touching contaminated objects, Inhalation: Breathing in spores, Gastrointestinal: Eating infected meat.

Symptoms of the Disease

Some of the initial signs are sore throat, mild fever, fatigue, muscle aches, mild chest discomfort, shortness of breath, nausea, coughing up blood, vomiting, painful swallowing, headache, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, and severe bloody diarrhea at later stages. You will probably only get some of these effects.

How it's Treated

It can be treated with antibiotics such as penicillin, tetracycline, erythromycin, and ciprofloxacin. Vaccines do not exist for the general public yet.

How to Prevent Yourself

1. Don't eat meat that hasn't been cooked properly.

2. Don't work with raw animals hides.

3. Take antibiotics every once in a while.

4. Don't go near any strange packages or envelopes.

1. It came from the Greek term anthrakos meaning coal.

2. Louis Pastuer invented the anthrax vaccine in 1881.

3. Some nations have signed treaties saying they won't use weapons with anthrax spores.

4. Bacillus Anthracis was the first bacteria to cause a disease.
