2020-2021 District Calendar Amendment

Anna ISD Families,

On December 17, the Anna ISD Board approved an amendment to the 2020-2021 district calendar, which will repurpose five in-school days to at-home instruction days.

As you know, this year has been unlike any other. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are continually evaluating our progress, systems, and responsiveness to best serve our students. Teachers and administrators are working hard to accommodate all students. Caregivers are doing their part to support learning in unique ways.

We still see an instructional gap between in-school and at-home learning. We took away virtual instruction effective November 3rd to help address many of those issues, and in many cases, it has helped. However, traditional teaching, combined with serving our medically fragile and quarantined students at home, places significant stress on our instructional staff as they develop lessons for both learning methods.

On December 10, the Texas Commissioner of Education offered a 5-day waiver for Texas districts to support teachers’ planning efforts for dual instruction modes. This allows us to provide at-home instruction on these five days while giving teachers extra time to plan quality lessons for both learning methods.

Instead of coming to school on the following dates, all Anna ISD will receive asynchronous at-home instruction. Students will be responsible for logging in to Schoology to receive their lessons and be counted as “present” for that day.*

  • February 12, 2021

Thank you for your support and patience as we continue to strive to provide quality instruction for our students to reach their potential. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher or principal.

* Student lunches will be available for pickup in the Anna Middle School cafeteria from 11:00-1:00 on the five at-home instruction days. Full, reduced, or free prices apply based on eligibility.
