Over 2000 families in Forsyth County do not have Internet in their homes. With so much of the schoolwork requiring online access, we want to make a difference in the lives of those who do not have the same privileges as others.
In 2019, students are expected to study and complete assignments online whenever there is an inclement weather day. Can you imagine what it would be like to have no Internet access - even for one day?
In five years, the Forsyth BYOT Benefit has raised over $300,000 to put Internet in the homes and devices in the hands of students without them. This has been accomplished through the efforts of our sponsors, golfers, runners and volunteers.
Please help us support the Forsyth BYOT Benefit by registering to run (or be a phantom runner).

Message from Dr. Bearden – Re: Homework during Fall Break
Good afternoon:
I’m sure I don’t need to remind you that Fall Break is only two weeks away. Please remind your teachers of our expectations to NOT assign any homework/projects for the break. It is absolutely okay to ask our students to read some over the break. I am also NOT talking about students who have procrastinated and have not done work or assignments that should have been completed prior to the break. That’s on them.
I had my Parent and Community Advisory Meeting today and several parents commented how much they appreciate their children having a “real” break and the opportunity that presents for some great family time. Break means break…and it is meant for all….including you and I. Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Jeff

Read to Me
Hello, Mashburn family!
We are calling on you all to help our newest readers achieve a lofty goal. Kindergarten and 1st Grade students who come to us without a firm foundation in literacy often have difficulty catching up to their peers. To make sure we give them an even playing field, we are asking for you to help them hear 500 books read aloud.
On Tuesday , August 20, we are launching a Read to Me initiative to help us meet this goal for each of our “Read to Me” students.
Have 10 minutes? Need a break from a stressful day? Come on down to the kindergarten and 1st Grade hallways! Each teacher has an RTM center close to their door. Simply pull one or two names, ask for the students and read them a book out of the Yellow Bin books. There is a book basket with books to read, or you can bring your own. Once you finish, smile a space on the student’s card, and send them back to class.
Please see a more detailed set of directions by clicking this link Below are some pictures so you will know what to look for when you visit.
Nearpod: Time to Climb!
Time to Climb is a highly interactive gamified activity within the Nearpod student engagement platform. Students race to the top of the mountain against the clock by answering multiple choice questions. Time to Climb activities are great for bell ringers, learning checks, exit tickets and more. Plus, because it’s built within the Nearpod platform, it seamlessly integrates with the rest of your lesson (after all, we hate multi-tab teaching just as much as you do). Your students are going to LOVE this new feature in Nearpod!!!

7 Mindsets Pacing
September's Mindset is 100% Accountable
Students will begin to apply the 100% Accountable Mindset. They will begin to take responsibility for their choices, so they can be more in control of their lives. They will practice overcoming beliefs that hold them back from their dreams. They will learn to focus their energy and make the most of their time, and they will understand learning new skills is a part of growing through life.
Semester 1: Morning Meeting Lessons (7 Mindsets Pacing)
- It is also located in the Mashburn Team Drive—Paws—2019-2020—Morning Meeting Pacing Folder
Copier Access (message from Joe Sanders):
- It has been decided to discontinue using Employee ID numbers on the copiers. On October 1, the pin field will be removed from the copiers. Any staff member whose badge is not working on the copiers needs to complete this Google Form. BADGE NOT WORKING AT COPIER FORM
- Also, please have users check the Scan to email option on the copiers to make sure that the correct email is displaying for the user. If the email address is incorrect, complete the BADGE NOT WORKING AT COPIER FORM
- Starting October 1, users will have two login options on the copiers.
- Username and password
- Scan user’s badge
- Additionally, Joe asked that users check to make sure that when they select the Scan to email option, that the correct email address appears on the copier. If anyone has the wrong email address, have them also complete the BADGE NOT WORKING AT COPIER FORM
- Safety and Joe are working on copier badges for elementary schools to use with PTO. More details are coming once they get things set-up.
