The Anything Is Possible Award program is designed to recognize employees who have gone above and beyond the call of duty and honor them for their hard work. Here in Blue Valley, we are known for our exemplary staff.
This month, the Anything is Possible award goes to Alfonso Ramirez Vega, custodian at Overland Trail Elementary. Alfonso not only excels at his everyday duties, he goes above and beyond to help colleagues and students. It is because of people like him that Blue Valley is better together!
Do you know someone deserving of this award? A staff member who goes above and beyond the call of duty for their colleagues or their students? Do you have an amazing story to tell of a time your colleague made anything possible? You can nominate anyone on your staff simply by sending your story to the communications team or by emailing bvinfo@bluevalleyk12.org. Tell us something good today!
Employees who are selected for this recognition will be honored and their story will be shared with the greater Blue Valley community.
#BVTogether: Valley Park Elementary students get creative to help raise money
The winter season brings with it sweet treats and a time for giving. Valley Park Elementary combined the two, turning student-made creative cakes into donations to help students in need.
Every year, Valley Park Elementary hosts a Cake Walk for students to showcase their creativity and baking skills. This year, fourth and fifth grade students who wished to participate were tasked with baking and decorating a cake that resembled the cover of their favorite book. The decorated cakes were displayed in the library for students throughout the school to vote on their favorite.
However, this story is more than just about creative cakes. Next to each cake was a donation cup, where staff, families and students could bring in money to support Community for Kids, a districtwide program that partners with schools at all levels to help alleviate food insecurity for students in the Blue Valley Community by providing weekend food packs to students in need. Students raised over $1,300 during the Cake Walk, which will help more than 225 students!
The cakes turned out amazing and really brought each book cover to life! Check a few of them out below. What an amazing story of how we are all #BVTogether.
