Special Thank You to Ruth Hall

We wanted to extend a special thank you to Ruth Hall, OCE's head custodian. She has been a beacon here at our school and always goes the extra mile. She has never wavered in her dedication to this school or its students, staff, and families.

Friday, August 31st will be her last day here at OCE.

You will truly be missed, Ruth! The OCE PTA, its members, and all the families here at OCE wish you smooth sailing!

ALL HANDS ON DECK

Staff Appreciation Snacks

The PTA Staff Appreciation Committee would like to shower our teachers with snacks and goodies in the teachers lounge as often as possible this school year. Our teachers and staff work so hard and having a little surprise in the lounge can bring a lot of sunshine to their day!

Bins are provided in the lounge for you to fill with whatever treats you'd like: candy, gum, small apples/oranges, small packages of snacks, popcorn, etc. If you think they would like it, they probably will! Feel free to be creative. Please help spoil them by signing up for one (or more) weeks.

Thank you for your support!

Early Release Lunch Donations Needed

Another early release day is coming up, which means professional development for our staff. The PTA Staff Appreciation Committee is gearing up to provide our awesome OCE staff with a FIESTA themed lunch to enjoy during their meetings. We need help with sides, condiments, drinks, desserts, and cash donations for the meat that will be ordered from a local restaurant.

Sign up here and note what day your item is needed at school.

Thank you for supporting our amazing staff! Having a delicious meal is so appreciated by them!

Technology Specials Volunteers

Ms. Johnson, OCE's Technology specials teacher, is working with our first graders on a special project. She needs parent volunteers to help during 1st grade specials time (from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.) over the next few weeks. The teacher corresponding to each slot is listed in the sign up.

Volunteers must be comfortable using Chromebooks and willing to learn a new program called Book Creator (additional details listed in the sign-up). She needs assistance working with small student groups in order to guide the process of student learning using this platform.

Grandparents Breakfast

We still need a few volunteers for the Annual Grandparents' Breakfast. Can you spare some time the morning of Sept. 7th or 14th? Please use this sign-up if you can help.

Breakfast for both tracks will be from 7:45 - 8:45 a.m. in the cafeteria. Stop by the book fair on your way to or after breakfast!

Tracks 1 & 3 - Friday, September 7th.

Tracks 2 & 4 - Friday, September 14th.

Clipper Coffee Kick-Off

The PTA has created a Quick Links page for new families, but it is a great reference for everyone! You can access it here or bookmark www.ocepta.com/new.

We are also starting up a periodic Clipper Coffee for new families to meet up with each other and ask questions of veteran OCE parents. If you'd like to join us for coffee to welcome new parents, please sign up here.

TREASURE CHEST

Sponsor Spotlight: Leith Volkswagon of Cary

We would like to give a special thank you to one of OCE's dedicated sponsors: Leith Volkswagon of Cary!

Here are a few ways they have supported our school:

  • Donated new Walk To School Wednesday shirts that were sold to raise money for W2SW events
  • Donates water for the Landlubbers running club regularly
  • Donated beautiful fruit trays for Clopening this year
  • Donates every year to the OCE Spring Carnival

Please be sure to thank Leith Volkswagon of Cary with your business!

If your business is interested in becoming an OCE sponsor, please review these guidelines on the OCE PTA webpage to find an option that works best for you.

Box Tops: National Box Tops Week September 17 - 23

Keep collecting those box tops and send them to school during National Box Tops Week September 17 - 23.

You can use the clipping sheets (attached below) or use plastic bags (marked with your teacher's name!). Box Tops can be delivered to the mail boxes located by the front office or to your child’s teacher.

Our first classroom winners for collecting the most Box Tops will also be awarded at the end of this collection drive. Thank you for supporting Box Tops.

Enchanted Forest Book Fair is HERE!

Come and shop before school (doors open at 8:45 a.m.), during your child's assigned class time (check with your child's teacher) or during Grandparents' Breakfast.

If you can't come to shop with your child, be on the lookout for your child's wish lists, which they will fill out during their class preview time and bring home. Select with your child which books you would like them to purchase and send them to school with the appropriate funds. Checks should be made out to OCE PTA and DO NOT NEED TO INCLUDE TAX.

This year we will also be participating in "All for Books." Parents, simply round up your child's total to the nearest dollar to donate to the "All For Books" fund. This fund will allow those students who can't afford a book an opportunity to purchase a book, as well as fill in the gaps in teacher wish lists items.

And of course, we still need volunteers throughout the two weeks of the fair. CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP!

If you have questions about the Book Fair, please contact Aime Feuer at amiefeuer@gmail.com.
