Rudolf Diesel and the Diesel Engine
By: Kinlie Smith
The life of Rudolf Diesel
Rudolf was born March 18,1858 in Paris. He was the second of three children of Elise and Theodor Diesel. Rudolf's family was forced to leave Paris because of the Franco-Prussian war in 1870. At the age of 14 Rudolf wrote a letter to his family saying how he wanted to be an engineer. He enrolled in a Industrial school Augsburg, after two years he graduated. After he graduated he was a refrigerator engineer in Paris in 1880. Rudolf was the only one who invented the Diesel engine. Many people have better and improved the diesel engine.
The Diesel Engine
The diesel engine was made because Karl Benz invented the motor car and he wanted to come up with something that was ran by steam because fuel is wasted. This took lots of time. He was in and out of the hospital because some of his engines blew up and almost killed him. He made a steam engine and a ignition engine before he came up with the diesel engine. The purpose has not changed although mostly trucks are diesels but today many cars are becoming diesels too. The invention was used to quit wasting fuel. Yes the invention is still used today by many people. The invention is bigger and better and holds a lot more fuel and has tons more power. This impact has a good role on other industries because many people make them now like Ford, Chevy, GMC, Dodge.
Some of the Diesel Engines
The first Diesel Engine
This was made to stop other cars from wasting fuel.
The latest diesel engine
This is for more powerful things, it has lots of horse power for very heavy loads.
The second diesel engine
This is newer and improved to have more power and smaller so it fits in cars.
More about the Diesel engine
This was invented in Paris. This was a long process 1990's to 1998. This has been used everywhere. This has a huge impact on life today it makes life easier for so many things, boats, trucks. Its really good to haul heavy amounts.
