Mrs. Lamb's Corner ..........

Westlake families,

We had a great spirit week that ended with a fun-filled walk-a-thon! I want to thank our PTA for their dedication to Westlake and all the hard work they do. I also want to thank all of our students and families for getting out there and raising money for our students and staff. It is greatly appreciated.

Spring 2021 M-STEP results are in!

The Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress, or M-STEP, is an assessment designed to gauge how well students are mastering state standards. These standards broadly outline what students should know and be able to do in order to be prepared to enter the workplace, career education training, and college. The MSTEP is administered to students each spring in grades 3-8, and grade 11.

For students who took the Spring 2021 M-STEP, the individual data reports have arrived! At parent teacher conferences, you will receive a copy of the Parent Report that details your students’ results on each portion of the assessment, as well as questions you could ask your student’s teachers about the results.

Additionally, a helpful companion to this report is the M-STEP Parent Guide, which provides grade level descriptions of the assessed standards and what the student will be expected to learn in the next school year for each tested grade. To access the Parent Report Guides, go to this link on the Michigan Department of Education website.

We look forward to seeing you at Parent-Teacher Conference: November 2nd and November 10th

Flu Vaccines Available

Caitlin Hughes, our school nurse, will be giving out flu vaccines to any students that would like one on Wednesday, October 20th from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. If you are interested in your student receiving one then please call the nurse's office, 269-565-4993. She will need to know by October 13th to have enough time to request the necessary amount of flu vaccines.

Updated Quarentine Guidelines

If you are a close contact, you must quarantine for 10 days OR to further reduce the burden of quarantine on the community, the following procedure may be used for a modified quarantine:

For unvaccinated persons:
Quarantine can end on Day 7 if a diagnostic COVID-19 PCR or antigen test is negative (not an antibody,i.e., blood test) and if no symptoms were reported during daily monitoring. The specimen may be collected and tested on day 6 or 7 and quarantine can be ended on day 7 or thereafter. Monitoring for symptoms should continue through day 14. If symptoms develop, the person should isolate and get re-tested.
