Hybrid Instruction
December 7 - Dec 18, 2020
We Engage We Educate We Inspire
As a result of the elevated metrics for our area, and per the GPS Governing Board motion from November 4, Sonoma Ranch Elementary, and all of Gilbert Public Schools, will return to Hybrid Instruction beginning Monday, December 7, 2020 and continuing thru December 18, 2020. Hopefully everyone received and read the email from Dr. McCord earlier today. If you did not, it is available below.
Hybrid Instruction splits students into two groups. One group will attend school on Mondays and Thursdays, the other group on Tuesdays and Fridays. The general split will be like earlier this year, with students with last names A-L coming on Monday/Thursday, and students with last names M-Z coming on Tuesday/Fridays, just like at the start of the year. Your teacher will contact you today if your student's day will be different than above. Some classes need to be balanced due to enrollment changes and disproportionate numbers of students at one end of the alphabet. If you did not receive a message from your teacher with regard to which days your student(s) will be coming to campus during Hybrid, please reach out to them directly. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please don't hesitate to contact me (colin.kelly@gilbertschools.net)
All students will participate in remote learning on Wednesday, December 9 and 16. Teachers will let students know both what will be expected of the students, and when their office hours will be on Wednesdays during hybrid learning. Additionally, your child will have activities to complete independently on the days they are not attending in-person each week when the teacher will be teaching the other half of the class. Students will need to again log into Buzz for attendance for the at-home days. Your student's individual teachers will share with you much more shortly.
As was the case during our first Hybid Instruction time, students with a designation of level C support on their IEPs will attend school Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Likewise all preschools will follow their current schedules.

Daily Student Health Assessment
Even though we will have fewer students on campus each day, it is still important for you and your student to complete the student health assessment. Please view the assessment here. Students who are sick or feeling any COVID like symptoms can’t be on campus.
Face Coverings
All students will continue to be required to wear face coverings to school. Make sure your child brings a mask each day they are in school. We also suggest each student brings an extra mask in a ziplock bag with their name on it to store at school. Masks are not required while students are eating or engaging in strenuous activities such as PE or recess in which social distancing can occur.
As this year continues to be unlike any other, questions are sure to arise. If you have a question or concern please do not hesitate to reach out to me. You can email me at colin.kelly@gilbertschools.net or call the office at 480.497.9343.
Thank you and Be Safe!
