Urbana Elementary at Sugarloaf
Thursday Announcements June 4, 2020
Goodbye to Urbana Elementary as we have known it and Hello to Sugarloaf Elementary!
It is bittersweet as we close the school year. It is certainly not what anyone anticipated. We will be saying goodbye to several hundred students and welcoming several hundred new students next year. It has been an amazing year with many achievements for our students, fun events, and opportunities to soar with pride. As we switch our nests from Hawks to Blue Jays, I know each of our students will continue their personal path of excellence whether a Hawk or Blue Jay as they have received a great foundation for learning from their families and from Urbana ES.
End of School Year
As you now know, the last day of school for students will be June 17th. Thank you to those who have already signed up! We are looking forward to “seeing” you briefly next week.

Please remember that we have 2 pick-up locations. Families with students with the last name A-L will pick up and drop off their items curbside in our car rider drop off area on the side outside the cafeteria. Families with students with the last name M-Z will pick up and drop off items in the back of the building in our bus loop. There will be 2 stations in the car rider area and 3 stations in our bus loop in the back. Thanks in advance for having media items in one bag and any classroom items in separate bags with your child’s last name, grade, and teacher.
Please remember to observe CDC recommended guidelines:
wearing a mask at our stations
observe 6 feet social distancing
Thanks in advance your patience as we distribute and collect items next week.
End of Year Days
This week is the last week of our family connections- phone calls and emails. I want to thank our staff for their outreach to all our families. I also want to thank you, our families, for sharing your time and feedback with our staff.
Next Year
Stay tuned for updates in July regarding how school will look in the fall. Due to unknowns, we will not be sharing school supply lists at this time. We will also not be sharing class assignments until later in the summer.
Health Room Update
Thanks to those who have made it in to pick up your medications and supplies.
Fifth Grade Families
A virtual middle school orientation and live FAQ sessions have been shared. You should have received this information earlier in the week. Just a friendly reminder that the last FAQ session is tomorrow at 1:00. Also a virtual presentation for our Fifth Grade Celebration of Excellence will be released on Monday, June 15th at 12:30. Due to our restrictions, all of our celebrations needed to be virtual this year. You may view at your convenience as you celebrate with your fifth grader.
