Happendance Remembers

Celebrating 40 years with the 40-40-40 Challenge

How will you remember Happendance?

On June 12th, 1976, Diane Newman, Founder of Happendance and CEO 1995-2013, organized a small group of dancers to stage a free summer performance on the grassy banks of the Red Cedar River where spectators would “happen” by to watch. This founded the Happendance Company we know today, which includes the School of Dance, Mid-Michigan’s only Professional Dance Company, and the Foundation Programs. June 12th, 2016 marks Happendance’s 40th anniversary of dance education and community service. In honor of Happendance’s 40th anniversary, Happendance will begin a forty day count down of forty years of historical facts on Happendance, as well as honorable mentions of historical figures, events, and other “happenings” beginning May 3rd, 2016. Each day we will take a step back in time to the exact day on that year where we remember where we have grown as a Company, a Community, and within our own Character all the way until the 40th anniversary on June 12th, 2016. Each historical fact will be live on Facebook and Twitter with fun-facts as well as prize giveaways by answering historical questions correctly as well as sharing and promoting the Happendance Facebook page. Those who are involved will be entered into a raffle contest on June 12th, 2016.
