Veterans Day Information
Pope Panther Community,
We are excited to host our Veterans Day program this year at Pope on Friday, November 11 from 9:30-10:00 AM. Veterans of all grade levels are invited to join us on the hardtop behind the cafeteria for the performance. All visitors will remain outdoors this year for our musical program. Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will be performing.
Our program will take place on the hard top with the only entrance and exit being located at the bus zone gate. We will have chairs for our Veterans to sit, but ask that any family members of veterans watch from behind the chair set up. Students who have Veterans joining us will be able to watch the performance with their parents, standing behind the chairs placed for the Veterans. Pre-K -2nd grade students who have Veterans attending will be escorted to the hard top by staff members. All 3rd-5th grade students will be on the hardtop performing. The community is welcome to come and watch our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders perform outdoors, but seats will be reserved for our Veterans. Please click on this link to register your Veteran and submit photos for a special presentation: Register Your Veteran HERE
There will be an opportunity for photos after the program is completed. Please make sure and sign up your Veteran if they are planning on attending. We need a count for the seats for the Veterans and staff will need to escort the Pre-K-2nd grade students who have Veterans attending to the hardtop.
Students are encouraged to create a poster to celebrate their family Veteran by Friday, October 28 to be hung up in the hallway as part of our celebration. If you have a student in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade please click on this pdf to see more information about our outdoor event: 3/4/5 Grade Performance Information

October School Clinic Tidbits
• Winter Clothing Donation
o If anyone has girl/boy pants sizes 5t – 12 they are willing to donate to the clinic, we would gladly accept them!
▪ Consider putting a spare change of clothes in your child's backpack despite age. You would be surprised how many kids may slip in the mud or spill drinks on them, so you never know when it will be utilized 😊
• Return to School After Illness
o It is that time of year when we see more sick kiddos, and I want everyone to know the return-to-campus policy after an illness. If your child has a temperature of 100.0 F or higher, follow the below instructions so they can return to campus as soon as possible.
â–ª The nurse needs a picture/copy of a dated covid test emailed to stacy.hughes@cfisd.net. It can be a home test!
â–ª If negative, then the student will need to go 24 hours fever free without medication before returning
â–ª If covid positive, contact the nurse @ 281-373-2610 for further instructions, or you can view the district's Lead Safely guidelines here -> https://www.cfisd.net/leadsafely
• Medication Policy:
o All medication must come directly to the nurse by the guardian. Students may not transport medicine.
o All over-the-counter medication must be in a new, unopened container and age-appropriate for that child. Sometimes you may not realize the medicine will say age 12 and older, so take a peek at those instructions 😊

SRC 5th Grade Mammal Skulls
This week at Pope our SRC team presented the Mammal Skulls demo to our 5th grade science classes. Our students got to participate in a hands-on learning experience to study real animal skulls and determine whether they were predators or prey and what type of food they would eat. THANK YOU to all of our parent volunteers who contributed their time to make this a great day for our students!
