What Are We Learning This Unit?
Science
- I can construct an argument that plants and animals have internal and external structures that function to support survival, growth, behavior, and reproduction.
Social Studies
- I can use geographic tools to locate places and describe the human and physical characteristics of those places.
- I can describe similarities and differences of regions by using geographic characteristics.
Math
- I can understand addition and subtraction of fractions as joining and separating parts
- referring to the same whole.
- I can solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of fractions with like denominators.
- I can compare two fractions with different numerators and different denominators.
- I can decompose a fraction into a sum of fractions with the same denominator in more than one way.
- I can add and subtract mixed numbers with like denominators

Quran
Last week we started to prepare for Ramadan by reading from Surat Al-Baqarah. Some of us finished 2 Juza's reading and some of us finished 3 Juzaa's, alhamdulillah.
Throughout this UOI, students will
- read and memorize Surat An-Nahl (1-20) with fluency and Tajweed.
- learn the general meaning of Surat An-Nahl (1-20).
- learn about the diversity of life (animals, plants, ocean, ….. etc) mentioned in the Quran.
Islamic Studies
Students will
- study the minor and major signs of the day of Judgement based on the Quran and the teaching of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
- reflect specifically on societal changes and how human behavior is affected by the Prophet's presence,
- reflect on the negative effect of going away from the teachings of the Prophets
- create a life-size timeline highlighting the changes that will take place.
- mark the major events or signs of the day of judgment
- highlight the societal changes that will take place, along with the minor signs of the day of Judgement.
Visual Arts
Students will create the following projects:
- Mixed media recycled materials artwork
- Book paper collage on Canvas
