FCPS Virtual Learning Academy

April 8, 2022

I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable spring break! It's hard to believe we only have 30 school days left in the 2021-2022 school year! As we approach the end of the year, we need to stay focused and dedicated to learning to prepare our students in 3rd - 8th, 10th and 11th grades for the Kentucky Summative Assessment in May. We want our students to show what they know on the assessment as they have all worked very hard this school year!

Please see below for information about our in-person MAP celebrations, EKU STEM summer camps, a free dental clinic through UK, PTSA and yearbook reminders.

VLA Book Buddies

The High School Student Ambassadors are offering a virtual Book Buddies program for elementary and middle school students. Ambassadors host 30-minute reading Zooms scheduled individually or in small groups. We would love to welcome additional students this Spring. To participate in the program please complete this form: https://forms.gle/Ma6nyiD55GaNuGGU7

One School, One Book = One Community

One School, One Book has begun! The elementary students are reading The Lemonade War; the middle school students are reading When Stars are Scattered; the high school students are reading Who Moved My Cheese. These books are free for each VLA student and can be picked up at VLA from 9-4 during the work week. The school community and business community of Lexington have all worked together to bring these books alive for our students through their read-alouds. The links to the videos can be found on our One School, One Book website. Students will have opportunities to attend Book Clubs and the Family Nights (all of these dates can be found on the website mentioned above). Student participation is optional. However, in saying that, there are many benefits from being read-aloud too.

Join the VLA PTSA!

The Virtual Learning Academy PTSA wants to provide positive enrichment experiences for our students and build strong relationships between our students' families and the staff of VLA. Please help support our PTSA by signing up to become a member!
