Department Resources ~ New Databases & eBooks

Databases, eBooks, Filtered Search Engines, Oh My!!!

Where to start? This year we added new databases and eBooks. You can access them from the library website. I also sent out a Google Doc that includes hyperlinks and passwords to the new database and eBook subscriptions. You will be receiving subject specific handouts in your mailboxes and these can be accessed digitally on library website under Educator Resources.

Information on Filtered Search Engines is on the way!!! Please let me know if you would like an overview of the resources available and/or if you would me to work with your classes on research assignments.

Welcome Back Sheila & Congratulations to Sam on His New Position!!!

A special congratulations goes out to Sam Brown who will be working with the IT team on Thursdays and Fridays. Wish him well!

Library Face Lift

Watchers on the Wall

Josh Andrews and the THS Art Club are working on a new mural for the wall at the library entrance. The design for the wall has a school spirit theme with two vikings - one on each side of the wall guarding the library commons. A big thanks goes out to Josh and the Art Club members for taking their time to create a new mural!

“...I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards the realms of men….” — George R. R. Martin

There are also new modular panels in the library that are currently placed around the Chromebook lab. The panels will help to make it more of a classroom setting and we're hoping there will be less distractions when students are using the area to work.

"The libraries of the 21st century provide a welcoming common space that encourages exploration, creation, and collaboration between students, teachers, and a broader community. They bring together the best of the physical and digital to create learning hubs. Ultimately, libraries will continue to inspire students to construct new knowledge and meaning from the world around them." ~ Beth Holland

There are some new sheriffs in town!

Meet the Library TAs~ The Sheriffs and Deputies

We are proud to announce that we have 20 Library TAs this year (Sheriffs) and 5 Library TAs in training (Deputies). So if you see students behind the circulation desk, hopefully taking care of business, that would be our new library task force. :) Please let us know if you need help, and we will deploy the TAs when we can.
